Taking a moment to recognise some great work from one of our new PTs that have joined Club Lime recently, Doug😊

Doug runs sessions out of Club Lime Seven Hills and has been extremely pro-active since day one:

➡️Building his gym presence by spending plenty of time in-club each day
➡️Interacting with members and offering value - planting seeds and forming relationships
➡️Refining and practising his onboarding process so he's ready to work with clients + confident communicating his value to them

This has resulted in Doug now having 4 ongoing clients in only his first few weeks with plenty more in the pipeline - great work mate!🙌

Happy to report I've finished the 8-Week Challenge😁🔥

RESULTS
➡️7.8kg lost
➡️4.4% Body-fat reduction

This was one of the harder cuts I've done - even with maintaining 6x weight sessions per week, the fact that my daily activity and steps have dropped so much compared to when I was full-time PT-ing definitely had a noticeable impact on metabolic rate😔

I generally prioritise maintaining my strength + muscle mass when cutting so I didn't add in any cardio - my approach was:

1️⃣Locking in with my food - I prepared everything I ate with no cheat meals/meals out/sweet treats🍩

I still enjoy everything I eat, but I keep it primarily whole-food based, high protein/moderate carb/low fat✅️

2️⃣I used structured high carb days twice a week for the first 4 weeks - this then changed to once a week for the next 2 weeks, then a total carb depletion phase for 12 days😱

I followed this with a small carb refeed for the last 2 days to ensure I didn't come in too dehydrated and negatively affect the scan results.

3️⃣Changing my training to high weight/low rep - this honestly felt like one of the biggest game-changers for me, as I would have typically stayed with a low weight/high volume approach to my training.

Every time I had done this in the past I hated it though - because I had lowered my carbs I never had enough stamina to complete my sets and always felt like I was failing every workout😭

Switching to high weight/low rep allowed me to doing what I enjoy (moving big weights🏋‍♂️) whilst finishing my workouts and maintaining as much muscle as I could by keeping a high degree of tension on it.

Ultimately very happy with the result😁 Also shout-out to Charles .progression at .broadbeach for winning the trainer challenge, great work mate!🙌

Now I'll look to maintain my physique allowing small fluctuations until the Christmas holidays, at which point I will absolutely send it with the holiday food and embrace the bulk for 2026🍕💪

I was supposed to compete this weekend but something weather-related occurred which pushed it back, so I figured I'd hold my own simulated comp🤠🌧

I put up the following:

➡️Squat - 195kg, +2.5kg PB

I feel I've got more in me for squats but still struggle with technique under max load - will work on keeping elbows tucked and arms more externally rotated so I don't overbalance myself. Tried 200 twice but missed it both times😔

➡️Bench - 140kg equal last comp

I felt pretty cooked after squats, when 140 moved that slow I knew I was in for a rough one. Tried 142.5 twice but missed it both times😵‍💫

➡️Deadlift - 235kg, +5kg PB

Lifetime heaviest lift😁

Happy with how much my grip has improved, given that when I pulled 230 last comp it was almost falling out of my hands. This is the lift that really saved the day🙏

Some soreness after training is normal - but if you're always sore and achey + not progressing in the gym, chances are your recovery isn't matching your output😔

➡️Aim for at least 7 hours of sleep a night - simple, but underrated for your recovery and mental energy.

Youtube can wait - turn your phone off and go to bed😴

➡️Get in enough daily calories to perform - if you're in a fat loss phase, the goal is to eat enough to lose weight sustainably without excessively affecting performance + overall life. If you're running a calorie deficit that's too low for too long, you'll struggle to perform, recover, and sustain the deficit to achieve your long-term goals.

Slow the rate of progression down or introduce some diet breaks and/or high-carb refeed days to mentally and physically replenish yourself🍞

➡️Eat more protein - you don't need to stuff yourself with chicken breast until it's coming out your ears, but aim to eat at least 1.5-2gm per kg of bodyweight.

ENJOY THE MOMENT😊

With goals like extreme fat loss (whether for competition or personal satisfaction) I've found it common for a lot of people to always want more - regardless of the incredible progress they make, they're not satisfied😔

While I understand the desire to always improve from a competitive and personal aspect (which is a great tool to harness to drive progress), if you're always tearing yourself down because you feel you're:

"Not lean enough"

"Not skinny enough"

"Not good enough"
..then no amount of progress is going to magically make you feel better.

As you're going through the journey, take time every now and then to look back at how far you've come.

When you reach significant milestones, recognise and celebrate them🙌

And lastly, understand when it comes to fat loss and muscle gain there will always be fluctuations - control what you can, accept what you can't, amd enjoy the moment while it's here😁
