Kings Birthday Social Day 08/06/2026: 4 Person Ambrose

A decent turnout considering the overcast and dewy conditions, but a field of 36 saw some good hitting and some great times had.

Big thanks to all those who helped with the day, including:
- Dan Torney cooking up the egg & bacon sangas on the BBQ before play.
- Gail Barker, Faye Reid and Allen & Lyn Giblett for their work in the kitchen putting on a great spread for afternoon tea and the hotdogs being sold from the window during play
- Adam Neyland for setting up the Nearest to Pins & Straightest Drive, and sorting out the results in the captain's room (with Les and Gail's help)
- The volunteers who keep the course looking magnificent, spearheaded by our greens director Les Barnes 👏👏

The NAGA goes to Jake Dwyer, Nick Forbes and Thomas & Gerard Doige, but the boys had a great day nonetheless.

I understand more than anyone the desire to play golf all the time. I wish I could win the lotto and play 7 days a week around the world 🏌️🌍. Hell, I've even contemplated night vision goggles to have a hit at midnight 🥽🌌

I can't believe this has to be said, but you are not allowed to play golf via the headlights of your car after dark... 🤦

Tuesday Comp Day 26/05/2026: Ladies - Stroke Final Round Championship

The weather turned it on for the final round of the ladies championship. Leading in, Alison Winchcomb had a 6 shot lead in Gross ahead of Mavis Kiel, Mavis Kiel had a 1 shot lead in Nett ahead on Gail Barker, and also a 3 putt lead in the Count Putts category, ahead of Helen Hayes.

Congratulations to Alison Winchcomb (pictured right) our new Ladies Champion with 298 Gross ahead of Mavis Kiel with 309 Gross

Congratulations to Gail Barker (pictured left) winning the Nett with 233, just ahead of Mavis Kiel with 234 Nett.

Congratulations to Mavis Kiel (pictured middle) winning the Count Putts category with 88 putts, just ahead of Helen Hayes with 89 putts.

Golf Trip to Numurkah

Our 3rd annual golf trip to Numurkah was another success. The weather gods were kind to us, albeit with some fresh mornings. A slightly smaller crew, combined with a few lessons learnt from previous years, resulted in good behaviour from all for the 3 days.

Special thanks to all the friendly staff at the Numurkah Golf and Bowls Club for their great hospitality and some great laughs.
