Riding for the Disabled in the Top End RDA Top End provides equine experiences to people with disabilities, unique volunteer opportunities and meaningful corporate partnerships.

Riding for the Disabled in the Top End is a not-for-profit community dedicated to providing opportunities for people of all abilities in the greater Darwin area. We provide mounted and unmounted sessions in a safe, relaxed and fun setting at our beautiful property at Marlow lagoon. We rely heavily on volunteers to care for our horses, maintain the centre and support our clients. 📣Shout out of thanks to Qube Holdings for their generous donation to our facility. 📣

We recently hosted some of the Qube staff and gave them a tour of the facility. It was lovely to meet the crew who had chosen our organisation for the donation. They showed us what great sports they are with Mandie getting a photo op on the lovely Bentley.

That's a wrap on our Term 3 Saddle Up Program!!

It is always a pleasure meeting the new students each term and watching their progress through the 10 week program. Our Saddle Up Program provides an alternative and engaging learning environment for students.

Benefits for participants can include:
- better concentration, problem solving, motivation and confidence
- increased self worth and emotional well being
- improved muscle tone, balance and posture
- social interaction, communication skills, teamwork and community inclusion

We had one of our busiest terms yet with nearly 40 students taking part each week across four different schools.

Thank you to our coaches, volunteers and the school teachers/support staff for their dedication this term. We look forward to welcoming our new participants for Term 4 in a couple of weeks.

Thanks to Forrest Parade School for sharing these fabulous photos of their students enjoying their Saddle Up session this week. These students have been coming every week in Term 3 and we love seeing the progression in each and every one of them.

Benefits of horse riding can include:
- improved balance and posture
- motor skills development
- hand-eye coordination
- memory and focus
- personal achievement
- mental stimulation

Welcome to the Program Suntan (aka Sunny) 🌞

Suntan has been in training and learning the ropes that last few weeks. We are pleased that he has passed with flying colours and took part in his first official lesson last week with our rider Eleanore.

He is quickly becoming a favourite with many volunteers and he is a pure gentleman💫

The NT Minister for People, Sports, Culture, Disability, Arts, Youth, Seniors, Equality, Multicultural Affairs and Veterans recently visited our centre and showed what a great sport he is by hopping on beautiful Bentley 😍.

We are thrilled to share that two of our fabulous volunteers Kirsten Leslie & Petra Tomanová have recently completed the RDA Assistant Coaching Course.

Both volunteers have put amazing effort in achieving the RDA Level 0 under the guidance and support from Coach Jody Burrows.

Kirsten and Petra will be working through the next steps on their coaching pathway to become fully accredited RDA Coaches.
