Maribyrnong parkrun Maribyrnong parkrun is a FREE weekly timed 5km event for runners and walkers of all standards

Maribyrnong parkrun is a FREE weekly timed 5km event for runners and walkers of all standards, which takes place every Saturday at 8am from Burton Crescent Reserve in Maribyrnong, Victoria, Australia. Maribyrnong parkrun is FREE and open to people of all standards and ages, both as volunteers and as runners / walkers. We encourage people of every ability to take part, from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians, from juniors 4 years or older to those with decades of experience. All participants receive encouragement and enjoy being part of a community event open to all standards. Equally, our volunteer teams come from a huge variety of backgrounds and we urge everybody to get involved in volunteering at their local events at least 3 times per year.

Our run director for this Saturday's (September 19) event will be Rob Martin, making his debut as a run director!

Rob's a Maribyrnong veteran, having started parkrunning back in 2015 - he's participated in 142 events here as a runner/walker plus 11 as a volunteer, to go with 53 events at other parkrun locations.

Please help Rob run the event smoothly by making sure you arrive before 7:55am, listen to the pre-event briefing (please hold off on having conversations with other parkrunners during the briefing so the briefing can be heard by everyone) and bring your parkrun barcode with you (electronic or printed).

See you on Saturday!

We're looking for a kind person to do the "post-event close down" volunteer role for tomorrow's (September 12) event.

This role is all about taking the equipment home after the event and preparing it for the next one (mostly a matter of sorting the finish tokens).

You'll obviously need a vehicle to take the equipment - typically an average-sized hatchback or larger will be fine (as long as you can fold down at least one of the rear seats to take the longer items).

As a bonus, this is a volunteer role that means you can still take part in the event by running / walking, so you can get a run/walk credit *and* a volunteer credit.

If you're willing and able to be our post-event close down volunteer for tomorrow, please comment, send us a message or email [email protected].

Congratulations go to our 19th finisher (and 1st female finisher) this morning - Genevieve Trevaskis - for finishing her 250th parkrun event!

Genevieve started parkrunning back in April 2014 (that's before there even was a "Maribyrnong parkrun") and 204 of Genevieve's 250 events have been at Maribyrnong, topped up with 46 tourist events at 16 other parkrun locations in Victoria, NSW and the ACT.

Along the way, Genevieve has racked up a very impressive 20 PBs and while this year she may not match her highest annual total of 39 events (set back in 2018), she's already recorded her highest ever age grade as a parkrunner. She's also been a versatile contributor to parkrun as a volunteer, taking on the pacer, number checker, funnel manager and finish tokens volunteer roles.

Congratulations Genevieve - welcome to the parkrun 250 (green t-shirt) Club!
