We were privileged today to have not 1 but 2 regular Maribyrnong parkrunners reach the coveted 250 finish milestone - Tillie and Paul Wilkie!

219 of Tillie's 250 events have been at Maribyrnong, plus another 31 as a tourist at 16 different locations around Victoria and Tasmania, 2 in Canada and 1 in the US. Tillie's biggest years parkrunning have been 2017, 2024 and 2025, completing no fewer than 39 events in each of those years (2023 was pretty big too, with "only" 34 events!). Along the way, she's also completed the parkrun "stopwatch bingo" challenge by getting a finish time with every possible number of seconds from 0 to 59.

Tillie's also been a great help to parkrun as a volunteer, scanning barcodes and handing out finish tokens at 8 different events.

Paul's also completed the bulk of his 250 events at Maribyrnong - 216 to be precise - topped off with 34 events as a tourist at 16 different locations across Victoria, Queensland, SA and Tasmania. Paul started parkrunning back in the same year Maribyrnong parkrun started - 2014 - and he's had some very big years along the way, highlighted by 40 events in 2016 and 35 events in 2024.

Paul's been a great contributor to parkrun as a volunteer, volunteering 26 times and taking on many different roles (pacer, finish tokens, barcode scanning, photographer, tail walker, timekeeper and funnel manager) along the way.

Congratulations Tillie and Paul - welcome to the parkrun 250 (green t-shirt) Club!

Special congratulations and thanks go to one of our timekeepers today - Ian Newey - for volunteering at parkrun for the 250th time!

Ian's been a very, very regular volunteer at Maribyrnong, with 239 of Ian's 250 volunteer events being at Maribyrnong, highlighted by being a timekeeper a massive 130 times! (for comparison, the volunteer with the 2nd-highest number of timekeepings at Maribyrnong is 47 times). In addition to timekeeping 132 times in total at parkrun, Ian's also scanned barcodes 27 times, taken photos 17 times, checked the course on event day 15 times, handed out finish tokens 14 times, tailwalked 9 times, been a pacer 9 times, checked numbers 9 times, been a lead biker 9 times, welcomed first timers 5 times, managed the finish funnel 4 times, parkwalked 4 times and sorted tokens (once).

We're not quite sure how he's found the time, but Ian has also participated in 148 events as a runner or walker - 139 at Maribyrnong, 6 at Brimbank, 1 at Albert, 1 at Coburg and 1 at Nhill.

Congratulations Ian - thank you for everything you do for parkrun and welcome to the parkrun 250 Volunteer Club!

UPDATE: We're still looking for more barcode scanners, a number checker and a photographer.

-----------------------------------------

We've got plenty of volunteer roles still up for grabs for this Saturday's (June 13) event - number checker, finish tokens, barcode scanner, photographer and post-event close down (taking the equipment home after the event and preparing it for the next one, mostly a matter of sorting the finish tokens).

If you can take one of these roles, please let us know by commenting, sending us a message or emailing [email protected].

Our volunteer team for tomorrow (June 6) is still missing many members - we can hold the event but please be mindful that (if we can't fill more roles) there will be significant queueing for barcode scanning and it will be more challenging to get the results completely right.

If you're able to help out by volunteering as a timekeeper, funnel manager, barcode scanner or photographer, please comment, send us a message or email [email protected].

30/05/2026

Congratulations go to Mark Chapman for completing his 250th parkrun event this morning and becoming our newest member of the parkrun 250 Club!

Mark started parkrunning in 2017 and 181 of Mark's 250 parkruns have been at Maribyrnong, topped up with 69 events as a tourist across 41 different locations in Victoria, NSW, Queensland and SA. In 2022 and 2023 he was especially prolific as a parkrunner, participating in 45 events each year! He hasn't exactly dropped off since then either, notching up no fewer than 37 events last year. We're not sure if it's on purpose or accidentally, but he's completed the "name badge" challenge by visiting parkrun events to spell out his full name. He's also *almost* a pirate, just needing one more "C" parkrun to complete the 6 "C"s and an "R" he needs.

Mark's also been a terrific contributor to parkrun as a volunteer, volunteering 31 times and most commonly seen behind the scenes making events possible by taking the equipment home after an event, preparing it for the next event and bringing it back (he's an expert at sorting tokens now!). He's also been a timekeeper, checked the course on event day, been our lead biker, scanned barcodes, managed the finish funnel and welcomed first timers to our event.

Congratulations Mark - welcome to the parkrun 250 (green t-shirt) Club!
