** MATCH REPORT**

The mission was simple. The mens first and second XI’s both had wins, all we had to do was make it a clean sweep. Easy right? With an abundance of players unavailable we had to call in a reinforcement and the inaugural womens captain Neelima was only too happy to help, which gave us the minimum number of 6 to play Pascoe Vale Hadfield Winning the toss (again) Maria chose to field first. Neelima claimed both wickets, getting a caught and bowled in her second over then a middle stump in her last, the impressive figures of 2/17 very handy. Grace continues to improve and impress this season, finishing with a career best of 0/10 off her 4. Some tight fielding and a slow outfield had the opposition at 2/103 off their 20 (this team scored 154 the first time we played them) Lauren and Laura were reunited as openers and boy did they look like they were having fun. Fours were aplenty, both looking so comfortable. 16 and 12 respectively at the end of their 5. Neelima and Maria were In next, clocking up a few runs, with a very impressive round the body 4 by Maria before she was caught behind, having made a very quick 11. Grace came in next and connected very quickly, hitting two fours before getting run out for 10 (beating Sam’s score). Neelima and Jenny both held out their 5, finishing on 8 and 7 respectively before the big hitters of Lauren and Laura came back in. Lauren, who is having a season to remember with the bat proceeded to smack 10 more boundaries, on her way to a career best and club high of 70 not out. Laura continued in her quest for form, with an equally impressive 30 not out. We reached the opposition total in the 15th over and finished on 2/165 after the 20 This team has continued to improve week after week and have shown that whether we have 6 or 8 players, we can mix it with the best, having knocked off 1 and 2 on the ladder in consecutive weeks. We go in to the season break with 4 wins, which again is a club high. Thank you so much to those that came down in support, and do week in week out. Very much appreciated by all. Special mention to Karlee, who kept the neatest score book EVER and Eli, who kept us updated on the scoreboard.

🩵Women’s Preseason Schedule💙

With everyone’s favourite coach .dcruz returning for the season, we look forward to getting underway.

For returning players we look to take this opportunity to improve and get ourselves ready for a big season ahead. For those who are new or are bringing along friends to join our club we look forward to meeting them and intergrating them into the wonderful team that is the ASJCC Women’s Teams 🥳

What a day for a game of cricket! Having been washed out last week (again) the 1st Ladies Team were itching to get on the park. Another win toss for Maria and we knew we had to get a decent score in. Maria and Rachel opened the batting on what was a very narrow and bouncy pitch. Took them a while to get going with the bounce but Rachel hit her strides once she hit a boundary. Both retired after 5 overs with Maria (3) and Rachel (9). Next in was Amy and Karlee, a pairing that grows stronger every match. Karlee was a little unlucky not to get a 6, but the shots were strong and the running quick. Both retired after 5 with Karlee getting her highest score (18) and Amy (10). Enter the big hitters of Lauren and Laura. Second gamer Laura got her first boundary and her highest score (13) beating Damo. And Lauren, getting her groove back (12) both retiring. Enter Olivia (who hadn't played for a year) and the returning Maria. The advice was simple. Go for the shots. And they did. Olivia with an impressive return of (10) and Maria (26) gave us a total of 132. Confident in our bowling lineup Amy and Karlee opened the bowling with some quick, straight balls, with Laura taking a great catch in the second over. The second wicket came soon after with a run out from a beautiful throw to the bowlers end from Amy. The support and encouragement from all was amazing to watch with the confidence growing in all. Lauren bowled a beautiful ball to claim another wicket. Laura's clutch bowling in the 18th over put the brakes on Haig Fawkner/East Coburg's scoring and left the door open for Karlee to finish the job. With (12) needed off the last over, their best bats back in, Karlee was cool under pressure. She was tight and their batters were feeling the heat. They got two boundaries and needed 3 to draw and 4 to win off the last ball, which Karlee was never going to let them do. They managed a tap but were never going to run what they needed to, with Laura making sure of it with a run out. A wonderful all round performance and the first win for Maria as captain, and hopefully the first of many for the season. These are the sorts of games that make a team a TEAM. Well done ASJCC!!


ASJCC Season 2022/23

Our 2nd ladies team finally got on the park today playing against Sydenham/Hillside CC, it was never going to be easy as our girls only had the bare minimum of 6 players but under the leadership of Mano and Jo, BOY DID THEY GIVE IT A CRACK!!
Sydenham/Hillside batted first and had 2 or 3 pretty good batters but our girls just kept encouraging and supporting each other. Ultimately we had a couple of breakthroughs, our 2nd gamer Sandy bowled one of the openers neck and crop then our first gamer Jess had their number 3 caught!!
Sydenham/Hillside ended up with 155 from their 20 overs, a huge score, undaunted our ladies were determined to make a game of it, unfortunately Mano (0) didn't trouble the scorers followed by Sandy (1). Our experienced vice-captain Jo teamed up with the newbies Jess and Danny and the rearguard action commenced, Danny made 6 runs on debut, Jo 16 runs and Jess 20 NOT OUT!
Our girls ended up with a very respectable 112 runs in total, and to make that score with only 6 players of which two were first gamers and one a second gamer! What a huge effort!! You've made our club proud ladies 😊💙🏏

I was only expecting to pick up 3 bats that our club purchased. But on learning how the flood effected our wonderful club,
you guys gave us all this!!!
