Ryan Deans - Get Going Personal Training Hi Everyone, my name is Ryan. I tell people to pick up heavy things and put them down again for a living.

These people then go on to become super awesome and do cool stuff. Let me be your coach, so you can do cool stuff too, faster and more often!

Fu***ng truth here, all right:

I’ve been knocked the f**k over more times than I can count.

You assume a PT like me would have some kind of perfect fitness track record? HA think again.

I’ve battled my fair share of addictions. Had mental AND physical health issues, depression, mental breakdowns, all of that s**t.

But here I am again, getting back up.

Remember: you’re not a failure if you fall off the wagon. You’re not even a failure if you stay off for a long period of time.

You only fail, if you never get back up. So get back up.

Come with me. We’ve got this.

Just one more thing. Anything, as long as it’s one more.

One more rep.

One more set.

One more meal that’s more in line with your goals then before.

Think of one more thing to be grateful for.

If you’re just starting out, just do one thing. over time these ‘one things’, done consistently, stack together and become more than the sum of their parts.

But start with just one more thing.

I hope this makes sense. I haven’t had my coffee yet.

If you consistently do what you can, with what you have, you will outperform people who sit around waiting for the perfect time or circumstances to take action.

Decide on what you can do, not what you “should” be doing. Then get to work and do it day in, day out.

My clients all know I'm a big advocate of "doing what you can, with what you have".

Here's what that looks like in practice for me. I'm currently doing an upper body workout.

All I've got is a set of 6kg hex dumbells, and a cheap set of adjustables i got off eBay.

I've got probably 1.5x1.5 meters of floor space.

Training in the 2nd bedroom of my apartment, with boxes and s**t everywhere.

Definitely not "influencer worthy" on any level.

But still getting it done none the less.

Doing what i can with what i have.

Most of the time, when people start out on a healthy eating plan, their first step is to chuck all of their favorite foods in the bin and pretend they didn't like them in the first place. Many diet books and fads encourage this as well.

Problem is, by doing this you are relying solely on will power to make the diet work. And guess what? Will power is finite, eventually you will run out of it, and crash and burn.

That's why most people don't last past the second week on strict diet plans.

They then blame themselves for not having enough strength, or fortitude, to see the plan through, when in actual fact it wasn't their fault at all, the plan was a s**t one, and they would have fared a lot better on something less extreme.

Any diet plan which doesn't allow for your favorite foods isn't worth your time.

Because honestly, living without your favorite foods is just a s**t way to live, really.

Moderation is key here.

Get yourself a plan which is less extreme, but one that you can follow for years at a time.

So what if it's not a perfect meal plan which a fitness model would follow, who gives a s**t?

You're trying for better, not perfect.

And you want to keep your sanity at the same time.

You've got this.

How do you break the cycle of relying on the convenience of food delivery services like Uber Eats (which can be both physique AND wallet destroying)?

Answer: make your own home cooked food so convenient, that no delivery service could ever possibly match it.

Now i can't predict the future and advances in technology, but im pretty damn confident that no food delivery would ever get to my place faster than i can defrost something out of the freezer.

Bulk cooking is a lifesaver, especially if you are pushed for time mid week due to work/kids/whatever else life throws your way.

As a nice bonus you get to save money which can then be used for doing other cool s**t instead, like taking the missus out for a date night. Win win.

Sometimes the days go well.

Other times you find yourself hours late for dinner, so you throw together pork ribs & rice and you and your wife end up eating it on a little table on the floor of your bedroom, while your son sleeps in the bed next to you.

When s**t gets messy, you make the best of what you've got.

Same goes for fitness really.

Staying consistent means dealing with the times s**t gets messy, and doing the best you can, with what you have. It's by no means a failure scenario, however.

Happy Monday everyone!!

I got sent this awesome non-scale victory this morning from a client of mine.

She's been putting in the work with small, sustainable changes. They don't seem like much at first but then BOOM your pants are suddenly too big and you need to go shopping again 🤣🤣

Just goes to show that the best positive lifestyle changes are the ones you can sustain LONG TERM.

Way to go Natasha!
