💙This is our purpose, our driving force 🩵
This is why we challenge you to complete the 1km distance through burpees. We choose burpees because they push us to our limits.
But these children face such challenges relentlessly, every single day— as do their families.
Vera is one of Harper's closest friends at school, making her story deeply meaningful to us.
This is her journey; Vera's story;
✨A little about Vera,
Vera is full of determination, strength, and love. She has a rare genetic condition called STXBP1 encephalopathy, which affects her development. We first noticed delays around 9 months old, and after years of testing, received her diagnosis. She didn’t walk until age three and is still non-verbal, but she finds her own beautiful ways to connect with us 🫶
A typical day for Vera,
Our days focus on supporting Vera through therapies, routines, and communication. She’s been working hard using her iPad to express herself, which is incredibly rewarding. It can be exhausting, but the small wins mean everything.
Challenges are always there,
There have been long periods of uncertainty and waiting for answers. It’s hard watching your child face challenges you can’t fix, but every milestone feels like a huge achievement.
Message to others from Vera's loved ones,
I’d encourage people to teach kindness and inclusion. Supporting Jeans for Genes or taking part in the burpee challenge helps fund vital research and gives families like ours hope ✨
1 in every 20 children is born with either a childhood cancer or a genetic disorder that necessitates lifelong treatments and therapies. To support research aimed at developing new, less invasive treatments for these young patients, we are committed to raising funds and awareness. As part of this effort, we will complete one kilometer of burpees. So grab your mates, click the link and lets support Vera and her freinds.
