❤️💚 RECOMMITTED SEASON 2026/27❤️💚

We’ve pumped up the great man after winning the HCCA medal, but now we get to announce that Codie has recommitted to the Mecca for season 2026/27. He’s already a two time BBF winner in his 3 seasons at Margate and the best is still to come 😮‍💨.

After an amazing year with a total of 841 runs @ 46 and 27 wickets, we can’t wait to see what the next season holds for the 22 year old superstar.

After re-signing, Codie had a few words to say:

“Really excited to go around again this year. To see what we’ve come from since I first joined the club to now is special and hopefully we get to taste some success very soon ❤️💚”

APPOINTMENT ❤️💚

The club is pleased to announce that Ella Bradburn has been appointed Captain and Assistant Coach of the Margate Women’s Team for the upcoming season.

Ella led from the front throughout last season, captaining the side to its first ever premiership while also earning Player of the Match honours in the Grand Final. Her outstanding performances were further recognised with selection in the Team of the Year for the second consecutive season.

In addition to continuing as captain, Ella will take on the role of Assistant Coach. The club is excited to see Ella continue to play a key leadership role both on and off the field, while also providing her with the opportunity to further develop her coaching skills and continue her growth as a leader within the club.

The club is also on the hunt for more women’s players, with all skill levels welcome. Pre-season information will be released soon.

Training is held on Wednesday nights, with the majority of game days played on Sundays.

🏏 2026/27 MARGATE CRICKET CLUB COMMITTEE 📝

Following our AGM on Friday night, we are pleased to announce the Margate Cricket Club Committee for the 2026/27 season.

We would like to sincerely thank outgoing committee members Libby Johnstone, Lochie Griggs and Maree Oost for their dedication and contribution over recent seasons.

We also extend a warm welcome to our newly elected committee members Josh O’Connor, Hayley Berry, Jarrod Berry, Paul Cameron and Ben Cameron.

Over the past financial year, the club has also made significant investments in facilities and infrastructure. Major projects included a new kitchen, a new television, FrogBox live streaming technology, Starlink Internet hardware and installation, upgraded bar equipment including a new fridge, and equipment to establish a temporary away change room. These additions have enhanced the experience for our players and members.

APPOINTMENT ❤️💚

The board would like to announce that Josh O’Connor has been appointed as the club’s Women’s Coach for the upcoming season.

Josh has been an unofficial assistant throughout the first two seasons of the women’s program, which included a minor premiership in 2024/25 before going on to win the premiership last season.

A big thank you to Josh Glancy, who vacates the role due to a move up north, finishing on a high note with last year’s premiership.

The club is also on the hunt for more women’s players, with all skill levels welcome. Pre-season information will be released soon. Please get in touch with us if you’re interested.

🚨 NEW SIGNING ALERT 🚨

Margate Cricket Club are excited to welcome Jaxon Thorpe to the Mecca for the 2026/27 season.

Jaxon played a handful of T20s for the Mecca last year, and it was clear he was the perfect fit for our young group as a cricketer, but more importantly as a person. A silky left handed top order bat, a sharp right arm quick through the middle, and a gun in the field, Jaxon brings the full package.

He may only be 19, but his cricket resume is already stacked:
• Represented Tasmania U17s & U19s
• Played 1st Grade at Kingborough
• Scored 2,000+ runs, including a 2nd Grade ton
• Taken 60+ wickets along the way

On behalf of the Margate Cricket Club, we welcome Jaxon and his family to the Mecca. We can’t wait to see what you can achieve in the red and green.

REAPPOINTMENT ❤️💚

The board would like to announce that Lochie Griggs has been reappointed as the clubs A Grade Captain for the upcoming season.

Lochie led the club to its first A Grade finals win in over 15 years last season, and has already made over 2,000 runs for the club as a batting all rounder. We can’t wait to see what he accomplishes this upcoming season as he continues to lead from the front.

Lochie on the upcoming season:

“It’s been a privilege to lead this great club since returning to A grade 3 years ago. After finishing last in our first year back in A grade, missing finals in year 2 and then to make a preliminary final last season, I am excited to see where this young group can go in 2026/27 and beyond”

Men’s Senior Head Coaching Announcement ❤️💚

Thrilled to announce that Paul Cameron has committed to the position of the men’s senior coach of the club for the next 2 seasons.

Paul brings decades of coaching experience to our great club, having previously coached at Blackmans Bay and Kettering in the HCCA competition, as well as Ocean Grove in Victoria.

It was fantastic to welcome Paul, Jill and Ben to the club last year and we’re incredibly excited for the next chapter of our club under Paul’s leadership.

The club would also like to take this moment to thank Gus and Mel Owen for their efforts the past 2 seasons. Gus has definitely left the club in a much better position than when he took over in that role.

A very exciting time for the club, with more announcements to come soon 💚❤️
