The whole club would like to pass on its condolences to the Dobson and Blake family on the passing of Tabitha Dobson.

Having Tabitha at our functions throughout this past season made those moments even more special, and we wanted to share this beautiful photo of Tabitha and her husband Michael.

On behalf of everyone at the Margate Cricket Club, we want the family to know that the entire Margate community is behind them during this incredibly difficult time.

COMMITTED SEASON 2026/27 💚❤️

A huge welcome back to the Mecca for Braedon “Rowdy” Allen.

A former A Grade club captain, Treasurer, committee member and all round great clubman, Rowdy returns after nearly a decade away.

Having started as a Margate junior, he’s gone on to play 197 senior games for the club, including 74 A Grade matches.

We’re absolutely wrapped to have him back at the club.

💚❤️ RECOMMITTED SEASON 2026/27 💚❤️

Margate Cricket Club is excited to announce that our Vice-Captain and reigning Best & Fairest winner, Abbi Owen, has recommitted for the 2026/27 season! 🙌

Joining Margate's inaugural women's team in 2024, Abbi has quickly established herself as one of the competition's standout players. After making her senior debut at just 12 years old in the 2019/20 season, she has continued to develop her game each year and is now a vital part of our women's program both on and off the field.

Abbi produced a sensational 2025/26 campaign, dominating with both bat and ball. She piled on 332 runs at an outstanding average of 66.4, while also claiming 16 wickets, including career-best figures of 3/6. Her incredible season was deservedly recognised with the club's Women's Best & Fairest award.

We're thrilled to have Abbi back in the red and green for another season and can't wait to see what she can do in 2026/27! 🔥

As we celebrate another player recommitting for the season, we’d also like to thank MP Meg Brown for her valued support of our club. Her commitment to local sport helps our players and community continue to grow and succeed.

RECOMMITTED SEASON 2026/27 💚❤️

What better way to kick off the weekend than by announcing the re-signing of our big-hitting opening batter, Kyle “KP” Paul!

KP has been a massive part of the club’s rebuild since joining two seasons ago. His aggressive approach at the top of the order sets the tone for the rest of the side, and he remains a key piece of what we’re building at the Mecca.

Kyle is just 8 runs away from reaching 1,000 club runs, and we can’t wait to see him bring up the milestone this season. Last season was highlighted by a blistering 131 from just 58 balls, featuring 21 boundaries, including 11 maximums clearing the Van Morey fence.

KP on the upcoming season:
“Can’t wait to get back into it with this group. They’re a great bunch of lads. Hopefully we can build on last season’s finals campaign and go to another level this year.”

RECOMMITTED SEASON 2026/27 💚❤️

The club is excited to announce the return of Cooper Sawdy for season 2026/27.

Soot has been a huge part of Margates rebuild over the last few seasons, making 2 A grade centuries and over 1,000 club runs in limited games spending his time between Melbourne and Tasmania.

We are now stoked to announce we get a full season of Cooper at the Mecca as he relocates home to Tasmania. We can’t wait to see what he can achieve with his first pre season under his belt and a full season of cricket.

Cooper on his return:
“Looking forward to returning to the club this season to be apart of the amazing culture that’s been built over the last few years and to build off of last seasons momentum. The club is beyond welcoming with a great energy so looking forward to contributing to make it an even better place for people to come and enjoy their cricket.”

💚❤️ RECOMMITTED SEASON 2026/27 💚❤️

The Mecca are excited to welcome back the big Skunk, Adrian Tatnell-Cowen, for next season.

Tatters has had an outstanding career to date, including an A grade flag for North Huon, a best n fairest for Margate as well as multiple leading wicket taking seasons.

He has taken over 100 wickets at the club at an impressive average of 19. Last year highlighted by a hat trick and 6 wicket haul against Longley.

Tatters on the upcoming season:
“I love the group we have and I really love where the club has gotten to now compared to when I first joined. I want to be apart of this group and help the Mecca return to the top”
