All Channel United families — this week’s games are washed out.

With the public holiday next weekend, Round 5 will now kick off on Saturday 13 June. Thanks everyone!

Unfortunately, this weekend’s CRJFA round is now a washout.

Following discussions with the City of Hobart this morning and with a number of schools already beginning to close grounds, the decision has been made to cancel all matches this weekend.

While disappointing for our players and families, the grounds are extremely heavy and the priority now is preserving playing surfaces for the remainder of the season. Protecting the grounds now gives us the best chance of avoiding longer-term damage and further disruptions later in the year.

We know children will be very disappointed, particularly after looking forward to their games all week, but we appreciate everyone’s understanding.

Thank you also to our clubs, schools, delegates and Council staff who have worked together over the past 24 hours to provide early clarity for families.

Hopefully we see some sunshine next weekend.

Victoria Morton
CRJFA President

It’s game day for thousands of kids across Southern Tasmania today.

A gentle reminder that junior football is meant to belong to children, not adults.

For many players this is the highlight of their week. They have packed their boots last night, woken up excited, and can’t wait to play with their friends.

They do not need pressure from the sidelines.
They do not need arguments over throw-ins.
They do not need adults trying to win the World Cup from the sideline.

What they do need is encouragement.
Kindness.
Patience.
A clap for effort.
A smile after a mistake.
And adults who remember that development and enjoyment matter far more than the scoreboard.

The CRJFA weekend is one of the biggest community sporting operations in Tasmania, with thousands of children playing across dozens of grounds. Please help make it a positive experience for every player, referee, coach and volunteer.

Cheer for the kids.
Respect the referees.
Support the coaches.
Be kind to each other.

Most importantly, let the children play.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone ⚽
