What a weekend of bowls!
Mareeba Bowls Club hosted the Champion of Champion Men’s Singles on Saturday, with a fantastic day of bowls seeing Ben Moore from Weipa and Malachy McTaggart from Mossman reach the A Grade Singles Final, while Mike Sims from Mossman and Paul Drabble from Edmonton progressed to the B Grade Singles Final.
Sunday morning greeted everyone with crisp conditions and the threat of rain, but thankfully both finals made it through to the end, with all four players producing some brilliant bowls.
🎉 Congratulations to Malachy McTaggart, who took out the A Grade Singles, and Paul Drabble, who claimed the B Grade title. Well done to all the players who competed, and best of luck to all the Champion of Champion winners as they take the next step to the Zone Playoffs later in the year.
Then, at 1pm, it was time for the Division 2, 3 and 4 Pennant Finals.
🏆 Division 2: Atherton defeated South Johnstone by just one shot in a thrilling final.
🏆 Division 3: Mareeba defeated Marlin Coast in a one-end playoff after the game was tied at the conclusion of the 21 ends.
🏆 Division 4: Yungaburra also secured victory in a one-end sudden-death playoff after their game against Silkwood finished tied after 21 ends.
Congratulations to all the players who competed across the weekend. And a huge thank you to all the spectators who came along to support their teams. Your cheering and support created a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day!
