Tandia Singleton
AKA "Tandia Bambina"
Tandia started in 2019 with her old gym/coach, & thought the fitness side of it looked fun & challenging, so decided to give it a go.
Currently training out of Nukzu Muay Thai, Cairns, under Boy Pramaree, prior to that out of Black Dog Muay Thai, under Daniel Grant.
There's been many challenges along the way, not being able to spend time with family & friends, the amount of training, being sore & injured & being able to train through it all. The biggest one being dieting & weight cutting and training through it, Tandia found the way to overcome this, is to keep herself positive & motivated, surrounding herself with positive people & making sacrifices.
At the time her cousin was training & fighting also & she watched him compete and that made her want to do it for the experience & see what it was like.
Tandia holds a record of 15 fights, 7 wins, 8 losses. Holds the Bantamweight K1 QLD Title & MTA QLD Featherweight Title. She hadn't really thought about Title shots, but always grateful & honoured to have the opportunity to fight for one, an Aussie Title would be awesome to fight for as well.
Her most memorable moment would be while competing at The Alan Bell Tournament in 2020, having to fight 3 times in one day, making it to the final. Since then going on to fight on some of the biggest shows in Australia, never thinking she could make it that far, "which is pretty cool".
Tandia has had a few funny moments, one where she went to jump over the ropes & got stuck, tried leaning forward to let her body fall, but at the same time her coach gave her a boost & falling over the ropes, giggling to herself & everyone laughed, it also happened to have been live streamed across the country.
The best walkout moment was having her Dad walk her out & being in her corner at an away fight. One song that has stuck with her is "Solid Rock" by Goanna, but has changed many times.
Tandia has thought about giving up, but would like to continue as a competitor for now & feels like her career has only just begun & would like to see where it takes her. Having had 6 fights this year, is keen to see what the future holds for her.
