Following an extremely productive meeting with Queensland Weapons Licensing Branch earlier this week, we can confirm that there are NO CHANGES to Shooting Club (SC1) or Recreational Shooting (RE1) licence conditions in Queensland, either for current licences OR for licences being renewed in the foreseeable future.
Joining us in the meeting were SSAA QLD, AgForce, and the Firearm Dealers Association of Queensland; all on the same page with the same concerns.
WLB tell us reports that renewing licence holders with shooting club membership being required to supply a property letter to retain the RE1 endorsement were the result of the miscommunication, and property/landowner letters are NOT REQUIRED for shooting club members renewing their licence and wishing to retain the RE1 endorsement.
They have also pledged to involve Shooters Union, SSAA QLD, FDAQ, AgForce, and other shooting representative organisations in discussions regarding any future planned policy changes relating to fi****ms licensing in Queensland.
We understand WLB are planning to undertake a review of the licence codes in Queensland (there are a lot of them), and we look forward to being involved in that process when it happens.
We greatly appreciate WLB taking the time to meet with all of us and genuinely listening to our concerns - not to mention the time and effort put in by our fellow shooting organisations in ensure Queensland shooters receive strong and informed representation on critical matters like this.
