🎪Northampton Show 2024 🎪
We were spoilt with good weather on Wednesday as we headed up to a warm 27 degrees. We were super fortunate to stay at Aunty Helen’s, where the boys were able to enjoy some grassy paddocks. This meant we were able to sneak in a sunset ride in the crop paddock. Nothing beats the feeling like being home🫶🏻
Thursday bought the heat and I got red sunburnt arms to prove it! Johnny pulled off some energetic rounds to pick up a 2nd in the 80cm and Spice having an off day.
Friday was for chilling out, catching up with my bestie, napping, washing the ponies and dinner with family.
Saturday was the big show day! Last minute decision to enter the hacking paid off with Johnny picking up champion hack. I feel very honoured to have won a rug sponsored by Walkindyer Poll Merino Stud (Joan and Warwick Teakle and family), the countless years they spent running, competing and spectating at the show, with Joan’s passing earlier this year, gives this rug a very special place in my heart.
Both the boys did well in 85cm picking up a placing each, followed by a tumble in the 1m to end our show debut. How else would you want to spend your birthday than in the ambo at your home show 🤦♀️ some epson salts and rest should do the trick and I’ll be back at it again soon. Nevertheless both horses really surprised me on this trip and took everything in their strides, both of their first ag show, grateful to both of them for making it an enjoyable time.
I thought our wrap up would be over but Sunday bought us a tyre flying off the float, unloading and reloading onto a truck next to a highway and some bush mechanics.
Couldnt thank Trevor, Ed and Scott enough for sorting us out and getting us all home 🫶🏻
My amazing driver, groom, 2IC, partner Justin, you have gone above and beyond to make this trip enjoyable and memorable one, Thankyou for being by my side through it all!
Well bad things come in 3s and when I got home I discovered my long awaited fairy floss had opened and dissolved, oh well.
