Thank you to everyone who participated in yesterday mornings Out of the shadows walk. Thank you for the donations that were made prior to the walk and continue to come through. I will post a final figure over the next couple of days.

It was heartwarming to see the community come together and enjoy the sunrise and catch up together for a good cause.

I was able to capture some photos from yesterday and wanted to also share some from our friends who were travelling abroad and throughout Australia. It was very good of them to remember us from far away.

Thank you again for your continued support, it has built a really connected community.

Join us at sunrise as we walk “Out of the Shadows” and into the light for the 5th year in a row in memory of our beloved son, brother and friend Sebastian Smith ahead of World Su***de Prevention Day.

Date: Friday 12 September 2025

Time: 5:30am

Distance: 45 minute loop starting and finishing at Train Tiger (279 Wecker Road, Mansfield)

T-Shirts: We have completed our 2025 t-shirt order, but please feel free to wear your shirts from previous years, or anything blue.

Breakfast: Bacon and egg rolls and muffins will be available to purchase on the day for a gold coin donation to Lifeline. You are welcome to pay in cash, or donate online via the link below.

Join us at sunrise as we walk “Out of the Shadows” and into the light once again in memory of our beloved son, brother and friend Sebastian Smith ahead of World Su***de Prevention Day.

Date: Friday 8 September 2023

Time: 5:50am sharp, for sunrise.

Distance: 45 minute loop starting and finishing at Train Tiger (279 Wecker Road, Mansfield)

T-Shirts: This year, thanks to Lifeline, when you sign up and raise $39 (the cost of answering a call to save a life), you'll be sent an exclusive Out of the Shadows t-shirt to wear proudly on our walk. We will arrange the option for personalisation to include our . More details to come. Please also feel free to wear your blue or white shirts from previous years.

Candles: candles by Wabi Sabi will again be available for purchase with proceeds donated to Lifeline. Candles will be $10 with $3 from each candle donated to Lifeline. Link to purchase to come. We ask you to light a candle at 8pm on World Su***de Prevention Day (Saturday September 10) in Bas' memory. Please share your photos with .

Reminders for tomorrow’s walk:

Thank you all so much for your support of our walk, it means so much to our family.

We’re aware of the weather forecast, but will be going ahead. Hopefully the rain holds off until later in the morning, but if not we encourage you to bring an umbrella or rain jacket and enjoy the rain. We will have a wet weather contingency plan to keep everyone nice and dry as we gather before and after.

Sunrise will be at exactly 5.53am tomorrow morning, so we suggest arriving early, from 5.30am as we will be kicking off promptly.

For those who have ordered shirts and candles but not yet received them, we will have them ready for you to collect on-site tomorrow. We will also have additional shirts (in sizes S,M and L) and candles available for purchase on the day.

Some lovely ladies have baked a range of breakfast treats available in exchange for a donation to Lifeline. There will also be a coffee van on-site for those who need a pick-me-up.
