On a fantastic Sunny Sunday with a light NorEaster and high tide, we held heats 5-8 of the Micro Regatta Series. With Dave Walton & Shaun officiating the races.

Iain Cameron continued has form taking two wins and Ian Saunders taking the other two. Geoff Gill has been very consistent with six 2nd’s so far and is placed 2nd overall with Ian Saunders in 3rd place.

The Catering Cup challenge was put on by Gordon a multi-Cup winner and he didn’t disappoint again. The main course was Giant Brazilian Sausages or perhaps “Linguiça de churrasco” with wrap, salad, dips, olives, cheese and napkins and of course an Aussie flag as tablecloth. Beers and Gordons Gin and Tonic. From al accounts it was very well received and has Gordon highly placed.

Next week we have Phil Reid on duty and Dave Dixon on catering and 4P & SP Series. Looks like I will finally make my way down to sail.

The Manly ILCA Fleet has kicked off for the 2026/27 Season with three days of racing and I have missed them all.

Late August Iain Cameron commenced proceedings with the first two heats of the 4P Series and also the Spring Point Score. Dave Walton continued his good form from last year and got a bullet and a 3rd to lead that series and Hoppo getting two bullets to lead the Point Score.��Ian Saunders and Phil Eadie combined for the Micro Regatta Series in early Sept in great short course conditions off Reef Beach. Iain Cameron took four bullets in a great performance and leads that series already by six points from Geoff Gill.��Last weekend was the opening heats of the 26/27 Club Championship with Dutchy on duty. In a nice solid Nor Easter Ian Saunders put his mark on the Championship early taking both wins. Phil Reid still sits 3 points behind though and Iain, Ali and Dave not far back. Both Dave Dixon and Gianni Watson picked up wins in the Spring Pointscore with Ian managing to stay in the lead for that trophy.��Now the Catering Cup has not been reported much over the past few weeks so I can’t really offer a true report yet. I will update on the next report next week on where we are at.��This weekend we are back with the sprints in the Micro Regatta Series and I will be signing on for that one.

Day 5 and the Elimination Series is complete at the San Pedro Olympic Classes Regatta! ⛵ Matt Wearn and Ethan McAullay have secured their spots in the Finals Series and will now battle for the medals on the LA 2028 Olympic racecourse 👊

Today was the last sailing day for the 2025/26 Season. Two Club Championship heats sailed to make a total of 12 for the season which triggered the two drops.

A dozen boats signed on for the race. Phil out injured and myself deciding to help him on RO duties. There has been a lot of injured sailors this season with many either having accidents and others just being taken out really.

The conditions were perfect with 10-15kn SE breeze and clear sky with a low tide during racing. Big thanks to Lisa who again helped with RO duties and enabled RSG to be launched.

With Phil Reid in the ropes due to surgery recovery and Iain Cameron MIA, Ian Saunders pounced. He won the first race by a close margin ahead of Tim Docker and Ali Devlin.

In the second race Ian was busted being over the line at the start and had to find a way to get back and start again. This excited the fleet as everyone thought they had a chance. In the end Ian managed to sail through the fleet to bag a 3rd with Geoff Gill winning the race just ahead of Dave Walton who was racing with a busted shoulder, if he had of capsized he’d probably still be out there.

At the end of the day we had crowned a new Club Champion with Ian Saunders winning by a bunch of points. A well deserved victory with the amount of work he puts into the fleet. Dave Walton ended up 2nd overall which is a fantastic effort and one to watch next season.

The reign of Phil Reid has come to an end although if he wasn’t injured who knows he could of taken a fifth title. Gordon was 4th overall so just let that sink in.

The main reason so many spectators tuned up today was to see who would win the Keg Cup. There were a few contenders that had a chance but in the end Gordon Lacey was just too good, an amazing sailor with impeccable tactics and took out the title.

Next Event Is the Presentation Night on May 30th. It will be about 6pm which gives everyone time to get to the Skiff by 7:35 foot the Waratahs v Force game.

Big congratulations to Ian Saunders for being the best in 2025/26 and special mention to Tim Docker for making everything work. To the new people that have joined us I hope you get something out of mucking around in boats on a Sunday arvo.
