Coming in hot at the finish of Race 3 of Moreton Bay Multihull Regatta - Ben got us over the line but tables were turned on OMR. 25 knots of breeze - with 23+ knots of boat speed on the run home. Awesome day …..

So the plan to get big multis back at the Manly Combined Clubs series didn’t go quite to plan when we discovered cracks in the front beam during race 1 two weeks ago. After a passing rain squall with 20 knots plus we decided to head home, assess the damage and work out a plan. We’d just slipped the Chief for antifouling (now we have a berth) and 9 days after relaunching we had to find a spot to pull the boat out.

Huge thanks to RQYS marina for fitting us in short notice - there were a few interesting obstacles to overcome but we got there!

I’ve been fortunate to meet some amazing people in the Australian multihull scene over the last 10 years. I’m even more fortunate to have made some fantastic friendships with some of them - getting Chief fixed for Moreton Bay Multihull Regatta is thanks to those friends. Huge thanks to Geoff Berg for jumping in and sorting it all out. Equally thanks to Joel and Tim Berg from Allyacht Spars for making their team available and fitting the new beam build in despite a full order book. The AYS team are always amazing.

Also thanks to Scott Keough from SK Yacht Rigging for helping Geoff get it all together and Sam from Gateway Marine for being on call to provide Plan B for a few early challenges.

We relaunched today and will be out there next week for MBMR 2026!

Cheers
Adrian

Monday memories thanks to Paul Steinhardt - Max (original name) at the start of the 2006 Brisbane To Gladstone Multihull Race. Back when roachy mains were still in fashion …..

Another S2C is done and dusted. Tough race through the drains with light conditions and the skipper hitting the bricks near Jacob’s Well. We were in good company with El Toro and Ritalin also doing their own depth sounding. The breeze settled from Macleay Island onwards. We were 4th over the line behind Excess, Ritalin and El Toro. Thanks Matt, Jimmay and Andrew for a great day! Big thanks to Ben Kelly and the El Toro team for a great sail back down the bay and the video and pictures.

A great weekend at Goodwill Cup - small multihull fleet but the Red Boat got the PHS and OMR double. Apparently we identify as a Beneteau now based on the medal 😂. Thanks to the Matt’s and Brent for pulling the strings.

We had a good tussle with El Toro Racing Trimaran over the 2 days but the luck fell our way despite a torn no 1 jib and busted screecher halyard on Saturday. Rare Groove came out to play on Sunday and set a blistering pace.

Thanks to RQYS for another fantastic event.
