Strong Wind Warning!!

Now that I have your attention..

Canceling or abandoning a sailing event is never a decision taken lightly. When such decisions are required, I typically start monitoring weather forecasts from 5 a.m., following the latest update from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM). We then consider various factors such as the experience level of the fleet, the significance of the event, and the conditions for the volunteers. In consultation with the Race Officer and the CEO, and in extreme cases, may also include the Flag Officers. a decision will be made.
Should we have to make the decision to Cancel / Postpone / Abandon, Registered Skippers will be notified by email (Through SailSys) Notifications will be broadcast through Social media and WhatsApp and posted on the Official Notice Board for the event.

So.. the message is.. Sailing is on .. until its not.. and then we we do our best to broadcast this decision far and wide.

If youre still reading.. WAG's is going ahead today

Please see the Forecast below and you are reminded of Racing Rule of Sailing, Part 1, Fundamental rule 3, DECISION TO RACE,
The responsibility for a boat's decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone.

A big shout out to Marksetbot Australia I Robotic Buoy for lending us a mark to trial as the start pin for the Brisbane to Keppel Tropical Yacht Race.

The mark performed perfectly and our volunteers were thrilled to avoid the tough job of pulling an anchor chain out of the deeper waters of the eastern course!

Your support made a significant difference to the ease of starting the race - thank you!

Exciting news! The 2011 built Ker 40 yacht, Showdown, is making a return to again compete in the Brisbane to Keppel Tropical Yacht Race!

Skipper Drew Carruthers has dedicated countless hours to perfecting Showdown. Originally purchased as "Showtime" & with keel issues, Drew restored her to be fully race ready with a brand new lifting keel, which enabled Showdown to prove itself as once again able to take on open water racing, by competing in the 2023 Brisbane to Keppel Race finishing fourth across the line.

After another year of practice, we are sure the crew are eager to see if Showdown can beat their personal best set last year of 3 days, 2 hours, and 5 minutes.
