I had 3 private lessons today.

The first lesson was with Tanya and Marshie. She was able to sit and watch people today without reacting and then made the decision to move away from another trigger. Fantastic!

The second lesson was with Kirsty and Alfie with Belle coming in every now and then. Alfie is a 8 week old Staffy x and Belle is a 13 year old pug mix. We did some exercises with the snuffle mats and discussed everything puppy. I really recommend these private lessons when you first get a pup so you can set them up for success.

The last lesson was with Nick, Remi and Winston. They are doing really well! We had some fun with the tunnel and jumps while incorporating some training into the fun!!!

A fantastic day and I really enjoyed every minute of it!

My private lesson today was with Bec and Charlie from Boyup Brook. Charlie is a 1 year old Blue Heeler. Charlie is having a few issues with over stimulation and then sometimes redirecting on to another family dog. This can be quite common in multi dog households.

During our lesson, we did some exercises with a muzzle (which she really enjoyed) and discussed subjects such as reactivity and how to help calm our dogs when they get over stimulated. Also what body language to look out for.

It was a great lesson and it was lovely to meet Bec and Charlie.

As our beloved dogs age, their once boundless energy may wane, and long walks they once enjoyed might become a challenge.

It’s hard to see them struggle, but it’s a natural part of growing older. Be patient and understanding—let them set the pace and take breaks when needed.

Shorter, slower walks can still bring joy, especially with time to sniff and explore. Consider alternatives, like gentle play or mental enrichment at home, to keep their days fulfilling.

Most importantly, cherish the moments you share, offering them comfort, love, and care as they navigate this slower, but still precious, stage of life.
