The Manjimup Tigers walked off their home ground yesterday with the kind of win that feels earned, not handed โ a hardโfought, wellโcontested victory over Deanmill.
The Tigers dug in from the opening bounce, fuelled by Hadley Edwardsโ preโgame words that had the group locked in and ready to scrap for every contest. And scrap they did.
Up forward, Marco Rado continued his sharp form with three majors, while Haiden Lagana โ back in the side and clearly missed โ added another and brought that steadying presence the Tigers rely on. Will Johnston, only two games into his return, played with real footy IQ, making clever decisions that shifted momentum.
The defensive wall built by Brin Booth, Finnley Ruffino, Daniel Lapinski and Hadley Edwards made them instrumental in defence, reading the play and cutting off attacks. Halfway through the second quarter Tigers trailed by 19 points when they turned the tables with two late goals in the second and a five goal third quarter.
Noah Blechynden played out of his skin, crashing packs and creating chances, while Kenny Beggs, Kelly Drake added real spark and pressure inside 50. Additional goals from Duncan Turner and Cooper Whatman rounded out a scoreboard that reflected a fullโteam effort.
A tough, wellโcontested match โ and a reminder that when the Tigers click across all lines, theyโre a hard side to beat.

Tigers Reserves side came up against the best in the business on Sunday, going down by 5 goals in a classic wet weather game of footy.
The game started strong, with Jaya Logan winning a clearance straight out of the middle, penetrating deep inside F50 to Keaton Reeve. He slotted the first of the game within 30 seconds and the boys looked up for the fight.
Deanmillโs experience came to the fore, as they lifted their pressure to take scoreboard dominance from this point onwards.
Our young brigade still soldiered on and stayed in the game, but some simple skill errors lead to our downfall for the majority of the game.
Keaton Reeve presented well all game long, while Travis Clark and Jaya Logan were again working hard through the middle.
Captain Jono Millar was a rock down back for us, with Isaac Femia running hard through the wings.
Lachlan Fisher stellar season continued, racking up the pill at ease, however it wasnโt enough to lift us over the line, losing the match 51-20. We are still sitting in 3rd position for the time being, with some big games ahead to come.
During this match, Midway through the second quarter, a sickening head collision occurred which left a Deanmill player in a seriously concerned state, and we are sending our thoughts to Jack, his family and the Deanmill football club on a speedy recovery.

In a critical game for our league side, we took on last yearโs premiers, Deanmill, on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers welcomed back a mix of youth and experience, with Hadley Edwards, Marlion Pickett and Paul Starkie returning to the side, Starkie playing his first game in four years along with Steven Giles back in the league after extensive injuries for his 50th game.
It didnโt take long for Starkie to make an impact, marking strongly and kicking truly early in the first quarter. Our side controlled the ball for much of the term, recording seven scoring shots to two. However, we led by just five points at the first break, 2.5 (17) to 2.0 (12).
The arm wrestle continued throughout the second quarter. Marlion Pickett and Dylan Edwards were superb across half-back, while Connor Edwards was in control deep in defence. Our midfield worked tirelessly, with Jed Kemp again prolific around the contest, and the combination of Tom Quaife and Jed Edwards proving an effective foil against Deanmillโs big man, Archie Hall, in the ruck.
Despite our general dominance, we went into halftime holding only a five-point lead.
The third quarter was a cracker, ebbing and flowing throughout. The Tigers struck early, kicking four goals to open up a break before Deanmill responded strongly, closing the margin to just eight points at the final change.
The final quarter was a slog. Heavy, slippery conditions made for a tough contest, and Deanmill hit the front with 12 minutes to play. The game continued to swing back and forth before a moment of brilliance from Cooper Nitschke, who snapped truly from the pocket to give the Tigers back the lead.
The final eight minutes became a physical battle, with both sides pressing hard and creating opportunities. Stoppage after stoppage followed as the Tigers defended resolutely and, despite a few anxious moments, held on to record a two-point win.
The victory creates a small gap on the chasing pack as we remain in fourth place heading into the bye.
There is still plenty of work ahead for our young group as we prepare for the second half of the season, but there are clear signs of exciting progress.
Jed Kemp was awarded the game ball for his best-on-ground performance during Think Mental Health Round.
Umpire Ryan Tindale also shared a very personal account of the impact su***de can have on families.
We encourage anyone who may be struggling to reach out. Football clubs are a great way to build connections and support networksโoften, others are experiencing the same challenges.
Congratulations to Steven โJiggaโ Giles on his 50th league game. Another club favourite, never a dull moment when Jigga is around, more injuries after footy than during the game - kicked his first league goal & displayed his physical game that we know him for. ๐๐
