Think Mental Health round:

๐Ÿ‰๐˜Š๐˜–๐˜“๐˜›๐˜š:

The Manjimup Tigers walked off their home ground yesterday with the kind of win that feels earned, not handed โ€” a hardโ€‘fought, wellโ€‘contested victory over Deanmill.

The Tigers dug in from the opening bounce, fuelled by Hadley Edwardsโ€™ preโ€‘game words that had the group locked in and ready to scrap for every contest. And scrap they did.

Up forward, Marco Rado continued his sharp form with three majors, while Haiden Lagana โ€” back in the side and clearly missed โ€” added another and brought that steadying presence the Tigers rely on. Will Johnston, only two games into his return, played with real footy IQ, making clever decisions that shifted momentum.

The defensive wall built by Brin Booth, Finnley Ruffino, Daniel Lapinski and Hadley Edwards made them instrumental in defence, reading the play and cutting off attacks. Halfway through the second quarter Tigers trailed by 19 points when they turned the tables with two late goals in the second and a five goal third quarter.

Noah Blechynden played out of his skin, crashing packs and creating chances, while Kenny Beggs, Kelly Drake added real spark and pressure inside 50. Additional goals from Duncan Turner and Cooper Whatman rounded out a scoreboard that reflected a fullโ€‘team effort.

A tough, wellโ€‘contested match โ€” and a reminder that when the Tigers click across all lines, theyโ€™re a hard side to beat.

Tigers Reserves side came up against the best in the business on Sunday, going down by 5 goals in a classic wet weather game of footy.

The game started strong, with Jaya Logan winning a clearance straight out of the middle, penetrating deep inside F50 to Keaton Reeve. He slotted the first of the game within 30 seconds and the boys looked up for the fight.

Deanmillโ€™s experience came to the fore, as they lifted their pressure to take scoreboard dominance from this point onwards.

Our young brigade still soldiered on and stayed in the game, but some simple skill errors lead to our downfall for the majority of the game.

Keaton Reeve presented well all game long, while Travis Clark and Jaya Logan were again working hard through the middle.
Captain Jono Millar was a rock down back for us, with Isaac Femia running hard through the wings.
Lachlan Fisher stellar season continued, racking up the pill at ease, however it wasnโ€™t enough to lift us over the line, losing the match 51-20. We are still sitting in 3rd position for the time being, with some big games ahead to come.

During this match, Midway through the second quarter, a sickening head collision occurred which left a Deanmill player in a seriously concerned state, and we are sending our thoughts to Jack, his family and the Deanmill football club on a speedy recovery.

๐Ÿ‰๐˜“๐˜Œ๐˜ˆ๐˜Ž๐˜œ๐˜Œ:

In a critical game for our league side, we took on last yearโ€™s premiers, Deanmill, on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers welcomed back a mix of youth and experience, with Hadley Edwards, Marlion Pickett and Paul Starkie returning to the side, Starkie playing his first game in four years along with Steven Giles back in the league after extensive injuries for his 50th game.
It didnโ€™t take long for Starkie to make an impact, marking strongly and kicking truly early in the first quarter. Our side controlled the ball for much of the term, recording seven scoring shots to two. However, we led by just five points at the first break, 2.5 (17) to 2.0 (12).

The arm wrestle continued throughout the second quarter. Marlion Pickett and Dylan Edwards were superb across half-back, while Connor Edwards was in control deep in defence. Our midfield worked tirelessly, with Jed Kemp again prolific around the contest, and the combination of Tom Quaife and Jed Edwards proving an effective foil against Deanmillโ€™s big man, Archie Hall, in the ruck.

Despite our general dominance, we went into halftime holding only a five-point lead.
The third quarter was a cracker, ebbing and flowing throughout. The Tigers struck early, kicking four goals to open up a break before Deanmill responded strongly, closing the margin to just eight points at the final change.
The final quarter was a slog. Heavy, slippery conditions made for a tough contest, and Deanmill hit the front with 12 minutes to play. The game continued to swing back and forth before a moment of brilliance from Cooper Nitschke, who snapped truly from the pocket to give the Tigers back the lead.

The final eight minutes became a physical battle, with both sides pressing hard and creating opportunities. Stoppage after stoppage followed as the Tigers defended resolutely and, despite a few anxious moments, held on to record a two-point win.

The victory creates a small gap on the chasing pack as we remain in fourth place heading into the bye.

There is still plenty of work ahead for our young group as we prepare for the second half of the season, but there are clear signs of exciting progress.

Jed Kemp was awarded the game ball for his best-on-ground performance during Think Mental Health Round.

Umpire Ryan Tindale also shared a very personal account of the impact su***de can have on families.

We encourage anyone who may be struggling to reach out. Football clubs are a great way to build connections and support networksโ€”often, others are experiencing the same challenges.

Congratulations to Steven โ€œJiggaโ€ Giles on his 50th league game. Another club favourite, never a dull moment when Jigga is around, more injuries after footy than during the game - kicked his first league goal & displayed his physical game that we know him for. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ‰๐˜ ๐˜Œ๐˜ˆ๐˜™ 2/3'๐˜ด:

Our Superkick team had a fantastic game against Southerners at their home ground this week. A big thank you to Southerners for a great match and for sharing some extra players to help even up the teams.

Well done to Ivy for her great goal kicking during the game, and Tayte, who laid some excellent tackles.

Great teamwork and sportsmanship from all our players โ€“ keep up the great work, Tigers!

๐Ÿ‰๐˜ ๐˜Œ๐˜ˆ๐˜™ 4/5'๐˜ด:

Tigers 4/5s travelled to Pemberton on Saturday taking on Southerners in ideal football conditions. We started the match slow but due to the efforts of Trent and career best match Tom we were able to stem Southerners surges.

After half time we played some great team football.

We held our positions well and had grunt moving forward. Thanks to Colts players Marco, James and Kelly for getting us on track during the year at training. Top job all.

๐Ÿ‰๐˜ ๐˜Œ๐˜ˆ๐˜™ 6/7'๐˜ด:

The team went well against a quality Southerners year 6/7 team who led by example across the field.

Everyone gave it their best and fought hard all game, but some minor disciplines let us down like manning up, leading out to space, not getting sucked in to the forward lineโ€ฆ.

Best players were Lenny who did a great job in the middle and down back - he had his head over the ball the whole time and was never afraid to pick it up and bust through the pack. Same with Stirling having a great game in back, on the wing and down forward he wasnโ€™t afraid to pick the ball up and take them on, and ran / tackled hard.

Marcello had an awesome first game back being our main link up player. Jesse had a great game doing well in whatever position he was put.

We have a young developing team. Everyone is improving and getting more confident, we just need to continue to develop our skills & in turn our game plan.

With the club donating a footy to each player - Itโ€™s important that the kids have a footy in their hands all the time & work on their skills & good playing habits outside of the training & game they get at the club.

Kids wonโ€™t develop if the work is not put in by themselves & supported to do this outside of 1hr of training. Keep working hard kidsโ€ฆand improvement will come.

Congratulations to Nate and Ewan for playing up in the 8/9โ€™s.

๐Ÿ‰๐˜ ๐˜Œ๐˜ˆ๐˜™ 8/9'๐˜ด:

Tigers 8/9s continued their great form this weekend against Southerners in Pemberton. With 2 additions playing up from the 6/7s, Ewan Ward and Nate Podzuika, we had a full side for the first time this season.
Against a depleted Southerners team, Tigers were able to showcase an impressive brand of footy, with quick ball movement and plenty of run into space. The consistent run and carry from midfielders Chace Watson and Noah Murphy combined with some great leading from Teale and Khalen Cutts, and Nate Podzuika resulted in regular scoring opportunities. Ewan Ward and Acer Reeve both presented well up forward and kicked 2 goals each.
On the rare occasions the ball went into the back line, the reliable defenders Max Hanrahan and Jensen Harris were rock solid, with Patrick Mann playing his best game for the team off the half back flank.
It was a 4 quarter effort from the whole team which resulted in a 10 goal victory, only some wayward kicking at goals preventing a bigger margin, the final score 10 goals 18 to 1 goal 2.
By the final siren there was a few sore bodies that will look forward to the bye this weekend.
