READING THE AGE OF A THOROUGHBRED

You'll find two vertical numbers on your TB's off shoulder, of which the top is your horse's birth order among all the foals and the bottom is the year. For example, my horse is 2 over 8, which means he was the second foal born to that particular stud in 1998. I know the 8 refers to 1998 because I know his age (his birth date is in his papers). If I didn't know this, the 8 could refer to any year that ends with this number, such as 1988 or 2008.

By looking at the horse's overall condition you can generally tell if they are a 1988, 1998 or 2008 model :P

(Best to know these things about your horse before you decide to lease or sell them on, other-wise you could end up looking dishonest.)

This was me after last week!
A lifetime of doing your best to be self-aware and having horses kick your butt in that general direction for years doesn't mean you are bullet-proof. People will get you down sometimes!
Its been a nice relaxing week, Im back to crazy again and I'd love to welcome all of our new students on board :D

Considering leasing out my beloved Mr.Magoo full or part lease. 6yr old Appaloosa.
Has a cold back, for that reason suited to an experienced rider. Absolute dream boat to ride once warm, beautiful soft mouth. Not forward moving but with some fitness and consistency with a good rider is going to excel in anything. Very inquisitive, brilliant on the ground, loves to be with you. Quite the show stopper.

I am SO pleased to say that both Alexander and Dreamer found their perfect new homes over the last 2 months. I couldn't be happier with the new owners these lucky horses have. Everything seems worth-while when you see an animal re-homed and not just sold on to the next person to then be abandoned in a paddock.
Enjoy your new ponies Mel & Kara !!
