MOFSC Power Section Supporters Page

MOFSC Power Section Supporters Page The MOFSC Powerboat section enjoys many great events during the year. Every month of the year is a good one even if the weather is not! Be careful!!

There are a mix of estuary and ocean events designed for all who love to have fun on the water. The MOFSC Power Section organizes trips including:
- the infamous Rottnest Convoy,
- various lunches at restaurants on the Murray River,
- a Christmas/fireworks raft up; and
- even an annual convoy to Perth visiting some of the Swan River clubs. A Time trialling season is also run each year by the Pow

er Section between May and September. Time trialling provides a wonderful opportunity to use your boat big or small on the river over the winter months. Time trialling is a test of accuracy rather than speed, and requires that you arrive at checkpoints located a known distance apart at precisely the right time, based on your nominated speed of between 5 and 15 knots. A one point penalty is applied for every second that a boat is early or late at each checkpoint, so that the boat with the lowest number of points lost wins the event. Prizes are also awarded for results on handicap weekly and there are a number of perpetual trophies presented on Closing Day. It sounds simple but getting the prefect 'zero' score is deceptively difficult and you will find yourself developing your knowledge of the river and perfecting your boat handling skills to achieve it. Events usually start at 2pm on Saturday and after completing the event, participants proceed to the Member's Bar for some well earned socialising, a bite to eat and announcement of results. If you wish to participate in the power events or wish to find out more information please contact the club.

We are ready to go....but, can you help?

We need our volunteers to register too please.

We only have 10 events during the season, so it's not a big commitment and we accept any level of support that can be provided.

Racing is typically between 2pm and 3:30pm every second Saturday (May through September). Full training is provided.

This year we have a full compliment of sponsors so we will again be providing all volunteers with snack goodie bags for during the check point duties, as well as the normal complimentary house drink at the bar and afternoon tea for results.

We mark points from both land and water, so if you have a vessel you are welcome to use it to put an anchor down at one of the marker buoys to collect competitors times.

Alternatively if you don't have a boat and wish to get on the water, we have club vessels that are available. A simple induction is all that is required is to get you involved.

If you wish to remain on land, we have locations around the area, some under trees or in your car, depending on the weather for the day.

If you are able to assist the power section please contact Drew Kenney, Captain Power at [email protected] or 0438 004 449.
