What an incredible day of racing at the York Agricultural Show!
We had five action-packed heats and a fantastic turnout, creating an amazing atmosphere throughout the entire event. A massive thank you to WAMRA for delivering another great race meeting and to the York Agricultural Society for putting on such a brilliant show.
After our rollover two weeks ago, Lightning was repaired and looking great. Although it ran reasonably well, it certainly wasn’t a fan of the short, tight and winding track! We still managed a good result in the first heat, including a win. Unfortunately, Lightning later refused to start, and it took several people to get it running again. After completing two heats, it eventually stopped altogether. We traced the problem to the earth cable connected to the battery, which had snapped.
With Lightning out of action, I raced Chick for the remaining three heats. Chick definitely enjoyed the shorter, curvier track and performed extremely well, picking up a couple of wins and several second-place finishes. Overall, it was some fantastic and competitive racing.
Jesse also raced well in both C Class and Standard Modified. Unfortunately, his steering snapped, putting him out for the remainder of the meeting. We will get everything repaired and ready for the next event. We are both feeling very sore and will probably need a few days to recover, but that is all part of mower racing!
I won’t be able to make kelleberrin but Jesse we’ll be there but I plans to return for Corrigin.
A huge thank you to our wonderful sponsors for their continued support:
Cellar Door & Studios
West Coast Roofs
Action Trophies
Peel Mowers & Chainsaws
Freedom Choice Disability Services
We would also like to thank our loyal supporters who travelled all the way to York to watch us race. Having people follow and support our team means the absolute world to us. Thank you as well to everyone who attended, cheered us on and supported all the other competitors throughout the day.
A special shout-out to Aussie Racing Team for allowing me to race some of their machines and helping us continue putting on a great show. Your generosity and support were greatly appreciated.
Another massive thank you to Bill, our transporter and mechanic, for his incredible work throughout the day. Your efforts to get Lightning back on the track, as well as helping with Jesse’s mower, certainly didn’t go unnoticed.
Thank you to Mandy, Cara and my kids for your ongoing help, encouragement and support. We couldn’t do any of this without you!
It was also fantastic to see several new competitors out on the track with their machines. It is always great to see the sport growing and welcoming new racers.
A big shout-out to Sludge from Outback Truckers for allowing us to have a photo with his beautiful truck. We really appreciated the opportunity. Thank you also to the York fire brigade for allowing my daughter to sit inside the fire truck and help water down the track—it was certainly a memorable experience for her!
Overall, it was an amazing and successful day filled with racing, activities and plenty of great memories. We hope everyone enjoyed the show, and we look forward to returning to the York Agricultural Show next year! 🏁🏎️💨
