‼️ PEEL Moto Park Status Update ‼️
The proposed site for PEEL Moto Park in Oakley, WA is a privately owned property (owners are highly supportive and willing to lease the site to PEEL Moto Park), however the neighbouring property is owned by Alcoa Australia who have a Restrictive Covenant (from 1988) on the privately owned site so we (and the Oakley property owners) sought Alcoa’s written endorsement of PEEL Moto Park as another permitted use of the property before we submitted our Development Application.
PEEL Moto Park Pty Ltd has comprehensively reviewed 30 individual properties to date, and invested significant time and money to confirm a suitable site and prepare the relevant documentation to support a comprehensive Development Application for a high quality, safe, family-friendly recreational tourism facility and have liaised closely with the Shire of Murray who have been incredibly helpful to ensure all the boxes are ticked with regards to the Oakley site and moto park development.
After a meeting, presentation and extensive project documentation was shared with Alcoa Australia earlier in the year, PEEL Moto Park Pty Ltd and the landowners have received letters to advise Alcoa Australia will not support the project next door to their property despite being unable to give any reasons as to why (outside of stating there is a ‘Restrictive Covenant’ from 1988). PEEL Moto Park Pty Ltd is committed to safety, security, environmental and heritage protection, dust, and noise minimisation design principles etc. An economic impact study undertaken for PEEL Moto Park at the Oakley / Shire of Murray site revealed the business would generate a local economic output of $6.9 million and up to 19 jobs in the construction and operational phases + $3.9 million in estimated tourism expenditure in the community. Not to mention a much-needed high quality ‘hero’ recreational tourism product and safe trailbike riding destination for visitors and the communities of Perth and Peel.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how we can convince Alcoa to support this project in Oakley? We are not seeking any financial assistance, just their endorsement to proceed with a Development Application on their neighbouring property. PEEL Moto Park Pty Ltd are committed to mitigating any concerns Alcoa may have to make this project a reality for our community...
Note: We have also discussed opportunities with WA State Government agencies seeking suitable parcels of land – no major progress yet, but we continue to liaise with government also.
Please bear with us as we work hard to bring a Moto Park to the people of Perth and the Peel Region!
Regards, the PEEL Moto Park Team
