Maldon golf course nestles between Mt Tarrengower and the Nuggetty range, providing a leisurely golfing experience in a natural bush setting.

The golf club has a season operating from March to late October, and 9 holes are kept playable for the Summer months. $10 green fees per day, and golfers with handicaps are welcome to join in club events. Though short, the course is quite challenging and undulating in parts. There are a number of blind shots to be played, and there ia a par 3 that can be approached only over some very tall gums. Sand greens are always a challenge to the uninitiated.

Maldon Golf Club results.
The second round of the club championship was held on Saturday, September 12, with a strong field competing in ideal golfing conditions. The championship is contested over three rounds and will determine the Ladies Champion, together with the Men’s A, B and C Grade champions.
The favourable conditions produced a varied range of scores. In the Ladies Championship, the leading contenders are separated by only two shots, leaving the competition evenly placed ahead of the final round.
The Men;’s A Grade competition is also closely contested, with three players within two shots of the lead—the narrowest margin at this stage for several years. In B Grade, a strong round from Chris Mulholland has given him a substantial lead, while C Grade leader Peter Gerolemou needs only to complete next week’s final round to secure the title.

Maldon Golf Club Club Championships 2026.
Saturday marked the first round of the Club Championship for 2026. The championship is played over three rounds with a Ladies Gross competition and A, B and C grades for men. Winners at the end of the three rounds are recognised as Champions on the Club Honour board, adding to almost 120 years of past champions.
This year’s first round was played in wet and blustery conditions with the course still wet and soft from the recent rain. Despite the conditions, some good scores were returned with close competitions in all Ladies and Men’s competitions. We look forward to the second round.

*Maldon Golf Club Tournament August 28-30.
Visiting golfers and club members availed themselves of both enjoyable course playing conditions and the best of Spring-like weather over the 3-day Tournament program. Some 25 country, metropolitan and interstate golf clubs were represented over the three days. Sunday’s Stroke event was exceptional with 63 players in attendance, including 7 players with a handicap of zero or less, a great honour and privilege for our club to host.
The grounds team worked a minor miracle to prepare the course for play with the heavy rain of the previous week leaving many areas of the course underwater. Fortunately, dry weather over the weekend resulted in excellent playing conditions by Sunday.

*SUNDAY - HICKORY CLUB EVENT
Endorsed by the Walter J Travis Society from Rochester NY; an organization dedicated to the achievements of our Maldon-born golfing champion; the Schenectady Putter Championship was the highlight of our Tournament weekend.
Hickory club enthusiasts enjoyed the excellent weather conditions to show their skills with the traditional clubs of yesteryear. Many players attired in the customary “plus-fours” clothing outfits.
Maldon Golf Club was honored by the Golf Society of Australia President Kim Hastie joining in play.
A play off was needed to decide the Walter Travis winner. After playing the 18th twice scores were still tied so a chip off took place with past Maldon member Simon Sheedy being the eventual winner.

*Maldon Golf Club Results: 22nd August Competition.
A dedicated field took part in this week’s Stableford event, braving a very wet course after sustained rain left several fairway areas too soft for play. Despite the challenging conditions, players delivered some excellent scores, with Steve Moore continuing his strong run of form to post an outstanding 40 points.Congratulations, Steve, on a terrific performance.

*Maldon Golf Club Results: 15th August Competition.
A strong field of players attended this week’s Captain’s Trophy event. Conditions were ideal for golf, although the course remains very heavy, with limited run on most fairways. As a result, playing to handicap proved challenging for many competitors.
In the end, club President Glyn Milner returned the best score to win the Captain’s Trophy, reversing last year’s result when the Captain won the President’s Trophy. Congratulations, Glyn.

Saturday also produced a special moment for Bruce Ackland, who played the perfect shot on the 17th hole to record a hole in one. It was a memorable achievement, and Bruce’s name will now be added to the honour board alongside the club’s hole-in-one scorers from over the years.Well played, Bruce.

MALDON GOLF CLUB
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our dear friend and much-loved member, John Purcell, following a long illness.

John was a wonderful part of our Golf Club family, and he will be greatly missed by all of us who had the pleasure of knowing him and sharing many good times with him on and around the course.

On behalf of everyone at the Maldon Golf Club, we send our heartfelt condolences to Janet, their children, Megan, Miranda and Jack and all of John’s family at this very sad time.

John’s Funeral Service will be held at the Maldon Golf Club this Friday, August 14th, commencing at 2.30pm.

Rest peacefully, John. You will be very sadly missed. ❤️

And perhaps fittingly, the photo below captures John doing something he loved — proudly celebrating his Hole-in-One on April 29, 2026. What a wonderful golfing achievement, and a lovely memory to remember him by.

*Maldon Golf Club Results: 8th August Competition.
Following the cancellation of last week’s Monthly Medal round midway through play, competitors returned this week with the opportunity to improve on their previous scores. Mark Gaddie made the most of that fresh opportunity, producing an excellent nett 61 after a steady and consistent round of golf. Congratulations to Mark on a fine performance, which may well see a few shots come off his handicap next week.
The final of the Jack Long Knockout was also decided on Saturday. When play was abandoned last week, Bruce McGregor and Glyn Milner were locked all square after 15 holes. The match came down to the last scrape, where both players faced par putts. After taking his time to line it up, Glyn holed his putt to claim a hard-fought 1-up victory. Congratulations to both players on an excellent final.

*Maldon Golf Club Saturday Ausuat 1.
Due to a health incident involving a member during Saturday the 1st of August play, the daily competition could not be completed. Golfers were required to cease play to allow emergency services access to the course to provide the necessary assistance.
We extend our sincere thanks to the local CERT team and Ambulance Victoria for their prompt attendance and assistance.
*August Monthly Medal -
As play was cancelled, the August Monthly Medal will be replayed on Saturday 8 August.
*Help Needed For Tournament Preparation -
The annual Maldon Golf Club Tournament is fast approaching and will be held on 28, 29 and 30 August. To assist with preparing the course for this important event, members are encouraged to join the Thursday crew on any of the next three Thursdays. Even an hour of assistance will help with course preparation. The crew meets each Thursday from 8.30am to 11.00am. Please bring a rake and gloves. If you can help at other times, there are also small tasks that need to be completed. Please contact Glyn or Fitz for further information.

*Maldon Golf Club Results for July 25 Competition.
It was a case of calculators at the ready for the Multiplier event on Saturday 25th July. Playing in pairs, scores were arrived at by each pair multiplying their individual score together to get their team score on each hole. If one player scores 3 points on a hole and the other 2, then the team scores a total of 6 points for the hole. Either player failing to score on a hole means the team gets no points. This results in pressure on both players to score on each hole and creates the potential for some excitingly high scores along the way.
Combining well, Steve Moore and Glyn Milner scored a very respectable 72 points to run out comfortable winners.
