Maldon golf course nestles between Mt Tarrengower and the Nuggetty range, providing a leisurely golfing experience in a natural bush setting.

The golf club has a season operating from March to late October, and 9 holes are kept playable for the Summer months. $10 green fees per day, and golfers with handicaps are welcome to join in club events. Though short, the course is quite challenging and undulating in parts. There are a number of blind shots to be played, and there ia a par 3 that can be approached only over some very tall gums. Sand greens are always a challenge to the uninitiated.

A notable event on the golfing Calendar for Maldon Golf Club members and guests, honoring a great Club stalwart, past-President and mentor to many junior golfers, everyone’s great mate Frank Fitzpatrick.
Joining Maldon Golf Club Members, 20 visitors from the Fitzpatrick clan and family friends made their annual visitation to our Club and enjoyed excellent conditions for the day’s golf.
Frank’s commitment to mentoring junior golfers was honored by the winning form of three Maldon juniors--Zavier, James and Ryan (and the wise old head of Mark). Well played and congratulations.

*Maldon Golf Club Results May 30.
This week’s competition was the first round of the President’s trophy (an individual Stableford event) and as has been the pattern this year, another multiple tie occurred. Amanda, Steve and Lynn all finished their games with 36 points as the score. The countback resulted in Amanda coming out as the winner. Well done, Amanda.
The final round of the President’s trophy is on the 20th June and should be a strong competition with several players close to the lead.

This week, a new prize of the longest successful putt on the 18th hole was introduced.

*Saturday June 6 competition - Fitzpatrick Family Day.
This is a social game of 4 person Ambrose with members forming teams with members of the Fitzpatrick family to compete for a range of prizes. Frank Fitzpatrick was a stalwart of the club over many years and with many family members in attendance, friends and acquaintances are encouraged to visit the clubhouse from 4.00pm to renew old friendships. Players can organise their teams or be placed in teams on the day.
A large field is usual so next week’s starting time is 11.00am registration for a 11.30am start.

Maldon Golf Club - May 23 results.
This week’s competition was a 3 person Ambrose event. Playing in teams of three, golfers must work together to achieve a winning result. This includes the need for each golfer to have at least 4 of their drives used by the team, so careful decisions on which drive to use must be made. Low scores were the order of the day, with scores at or below par returned by two teams. After handicap was applied, a final score of 53.167 resulted in a win for Oliver, Glyn and Bruce. Well done.

Maldon Golf Club Saturday, May 16 competition results.
Throughout the golfing season, a number of Competition events have Honour Board status.
The first event for this season was the 2-person Pinehurst Championship played last Saturday in great golfing conditions.
Congratulations to the successful father-son team of Chris and Ryan Mulholland with a comfortable 9 shot win over the field.

*Results for May 9th.
Perfect golfing conditions with balmy weather and grass growing on the course made for an enjoyable competition this week. Play this week was Par which is a game of plus and minus and a need to plan your play of each hole.
At the end of play Julie Green came home the winner having played to her handicap and finishing all square. Well done, Julie.

*Maldon Golf Club results for May 2nd.
This week’s monthly medal was another strongly contested event, that for the second month in a row produced a four-way tie at the end of play. A four-way tie is highly unusual and to have it happen at two medal events in a row is even rarer. The count back system saw Gadget Gaddie come out the winner on the day. Congratulations to Gadget and the others for their good scoring. A special well done to James Farman for scoring an Eagle on the 5th hole.

*Maldon Golf Club Saturday April 25 results.
To mark ANZAC Day, a short service led by ex-serviceman Richard Ruff was held before play. Richard gave a talk about golfers who had served their country and led the ode, followed by a minute’s silence. Thank you to Richard for his moving words.
When play started, delightful Autumn weather greeted the field for this week’s 4BBB event. Visitors, Helen Skinner and Glenda Jefferies from Castlemaine Golf Club, were winners on the day with a strong 48 points. Well-done.
A highlight of the day was Richard Ruff scoring an eagle on the 15th hole. This was after his tee shot lipped the hole for what would have been a hole in one and an elusive albatross. An amazing shot!

Perfect golfing conditions greeted players for this week’s Stableford competition. This was reflected in many good scores being recorded on the day from another strong field of players. Stand out score of the day was returned by Lynn Giffard with an impressive 39 points! Well done Lynn.

*Maldon Golf Report April 11th Results.
Resuming competition after the Easter break, the first Monthly Medal of the season saw a strong field of golfers competing for the prize. In cold blustery conditions, golfers had to work hard to control the ball and stay on the fairways. At the end of play there was an unusual result of four players being tied for the lead and the need to use the countback system to decide 1st to 4th. In the end Club Captain, John Fitzpatrick came out the winner. Congratulations to all the players involved.

A huge thank you to all of the Maldon Golf Club volunteers who gave up hours of their Easter weekend to help make this year‘s Hole in One event one of our biggest ever!
From setting up, cooking, counting balls, collecting balls, serving refreshments, organising the Easter egg hunt and kids activities, and of course the big pack up; it is a massive job.
