With the Last Man Stands Newcastle Maitland Winter League finishing last weekend, the Rats unfortunately went down in our semi final against the Cowboys, who went on to win the GF.
Another fun season of LMS cricket, our 5th season of this format and our 5th time making the finals.
It was a very competitive league and all of our players put in massive efforts each week to be available and give it their best.
Dylan Duffin and Will Blain, both playing in their first full season with the rats had fantastic seasons. Both Dylan and Will featured high on the MVP table.
The Diamond Rats 2026 MVP award goes to Rats opening batsman Will McGarry.
Will has been part of the Rats squad from day 1, and in his debut game was dismissed for a duck but has now transformed himself into one of the most feared openers in the league, scoring 7 half centuries on his way to being crowned the #1 batter in the league.
Will also went on to win the 22 Yard Cricket “Ultimate run chase”(most runs for the season), the Coolrite Air Conditioning Pty Ltd “Big hit”(hitting the Coolrite sign with a massive six), and now the RE Hunter Estate Agents Diamond Rats MVP award.
CONGRATS WILL ON AN AMAZING SEASON!
Our The Garrison Tattoo Captains Choice award goes to one of our young players Will Blain, a fantastic first full season with the rats.
Will bowled with amazing accuracy and was very economical for the season, for which he also picked up a global honours board recognition.
Will finished the season as the #3 ranked bowler in the league.
Thank you to all Rats players for yet another enjoyable season, whether you played 10 games or 1, you contribution was appreciated.
The Rats will be back in 2027 to go around again in the Last Man Stands Winter League.
