It’s been a hot minute since TGSS 2026 wrapped up and we are still coming down.

Together with our buddies, we formed team WIRD Spuds and it was a delight to hear the officials call us “spuds” when addressing us for penalties 🤣🤣🤣

Our two games were very different games. Our skaters showed their best, adaptability, comms were on point and all our training coming together in a beautiful display of skills on track.

Results
Day 1 game - 149-141 - we lost a close game against they were sensational and definitely kept us working for every point.

Day 2 game - 289-102 - we took the win against South East Alliance (SEA) in a really enjoyable game. Getting to play on track one with a decent little crowd was something us little spuds will never forget. Thanks to all our local region leagues for showing your support on the sidelines and in the stands. 🫶

It’s back to business as we take home some notes and little pearls of wisdom from our TGSS experience and incorporate new insights into our training sessions. The next round of is approaching soon and we are excited to play & at Dee Why PCYC hosted by

You can also find some spuds out in the wild at Pride Games this Saturday at Sydney Boys High School- Moore Park from 3.30pm

And Newcastle Home Teams next round is also on the calendar and fast approaching.

1️⃣TGSS Day 1 photo dump.

💜What an epic first day for team WIRDspuds. Our first game against Witches of East Vic was so so close. Taking away information from that game to build our game 2 plan.

💚So much energy and vibes and great to watch and support our local region’s teams games as well Central Coast, Sydney and Newcastle. Also getting to catch up with skate buddies from further afield is always nice too 😊

🥁Drum roll……Introducing our TGSS team roster!

💜💚The collaboration that is Maitland Roller Derby and Wollongong Illawarra Roller Derby League will take flight ✈️ soon to Adelaide to compete in Division 3 at The Great Southern Slam.

🙌 This is THE FIRST TIME in Maitland Roller Derby’s history that our name will be included at this epic tournament and to say we are excited is an understatement!!

Bring it on! 💪

Thank you to Themme Brutale .brutale of VRDL for their fantastic training session with us recently. Themme brought some fresh ideas to our league for offensive blocking and jamming techniques. Along with some friends from we now have new tools for the tool kit we will continue to develop at training.

Thank you Themme, we all had a wonderful time. 💯recommend booking a session for your league! Well structured, a good mix of skills and vibes 🫶
