ALI TANGO 💃
6 Wins at Wentworth Park
6 Wins at Maitland
1️⃣ What is your greyhound’s kennel name?
🔹”Rosco”
2️⃣ How many starts did they have, and what was their biggest racing achievement?
🔹He had 66 starts for 22 wins. His best win was in 2024 taking out “The Macca” at The Gardens.
3️⃣ What are your favourite memories from their racing career?
🔹Winning races was great, especially 6 times at Wentworth Park, they were special.
4️⃣ Did he have any funny or unique quirks at the track?
🔹Not Rosco, but Trent Freeman, the other part-owner of Rosco, when we raced at Wenty he’d always sit on the left of me in the grandstand.
5️⃣ What do you think they loved most about racing?
🔹I loved catching up with Trent, Michael Phillips and our trainer Joe McFayden at the track, seeing Rocso, giving him plenty of pats and cuddles. We’re all good mates.
6️⃣ What was the first day at home like?
🔹It was challenging. Rosco going from the open spaces at Dungog to a much smaller inner west home in Sydney. It just took a week or so now he knows the routine.
7️⃣ Did he settle into retirement straight away, or did he take some time to adjust?
🔹Rosco has settled in really well. He’s a placid dog and now a couch potato. He certainly does love his soft toys.
8️⃣ What surprised you most about them once they retired?
🔹How easily he gets on with our pet dog Rocky, who’s a beaglier. Also, from being an athlete to a couch potato with two daily walks.
9️⃣ What’s a typical day like for your retired grey?
🔹Sleeping and resting.
🔟 What are his favourite things to do now?
🔹Walks everyday and meeting other dogs in the community. He still just loves to run in gated secure parks.
1️⃣1️⃣ Does he have any funny habits or routines?
🔹When he’s about to settle down on his bed, he will need to do about 4 turns in a circle before he finally lies down.
1️⃣2️⃣ What’s his favourite treat or toy?
🔹He loves his squeaky soft toys.
1️⃣3️⃣ Does he have any furry friends or other pets at home?
🔹Yes, our Beaglier Rocky, who has anxiety issues but he and Rosco are now great mates.
1️⃣4️⃣ What would be the best piece of advice you could give anyone either looking to or convincing them to adopt a greyhound?
🔹They are just beautiful natured dogs. It’s a big transition going from a racing dog to a retired greyhound, So take them on walks morning and evening. They love the outdoors and it gives me some exercise as well. Make sure you have a good lounge for them as Rosco loves it.
Enjoy retired life, Rosco and thanks for plenty of great memories! 🙏🏻
