The Far North of Queensland takes centre stage this weekend as some of MTC’s finest head north to tackle the spectacular (but potentially brutal) Cairns Ironman and 70.3.

With some challenging conditions forecast, it’s shaping up to be a true test of mental resilience as much as physical endurance. But if there’s one thing we know, it’s that our red and blue army is more than ready for the challenge.

After months of hard work, dedication, and early mornings, we have no doubt you’ll take it all in your stride and charge down that finish chute with a smile.

Best of luck to all our athletes racing this weekend. We’ll be tracking every move and cheering you on from afar.

Go well, race hard, and enjoy every moment!

Stuart Ramsay - 1046
Isacc Sanderson - 116
Meg King - 238

Recently the Junior Development racing season concluded with the Regional Academy Games held in Tamworth. Several of younger members represent Hunter Academy of Sport and MTC with distinction.

Congratulations on all for doing extremely well. - Lachlan Apps, Caine Platt, Ethan Graber, Samuel Grebert and HAS Assistant Coach Mark Hall.

Special mention to Caine Platt for Place 1st Youth Male and actually placing first overall male, yes faster than the all older boys.

Our Season Finale is almost here, so we just wanted to touch base again with a couple of reminders ahead of Sunday’s event.

Firstly, we still require 4-5 marshals for Sunday to go ahead. So a big thanks to all those who have signed up already, but if 4-5 more could PLEASE consider registering to marshal, we can’t go ahead if you don’t 🙏🏼.

Secondly, the senior distance “handicap style” event is open still to ANYONE. Those on the list posted that say “eligible” are those who have met the criteria to win the “Brian Lawrence Memorial Trophy”. Sheep stations, bragging rights and overall line honors are still very much up for grabs.

BBQ and “Post event rehydration” beverages will be awaiting everyone at the finish line as we all celebrate BL’s legacy and another amazing season for MTC 🙏🏼.

Please see below the schedule for Sunday morning and if there are any questions, please reach out.

This Sunday, Maitland Triathlon Club comes together to remember and celebrate Brian Lawrence - a true stalwart of our club and a much-loved Life Member.

Brian was more than a competitor. He was a mate.

For many years, he was always the first one there to set up and often the last to leave, giving his time selflessly to make every event the best it could be.

Brian was loved and respected by so many. Whether it was seeing him flying around Hell of the West on his iconic bright green Trek Equinox, or proudly rocking his MTC budgie smugglers, he created memories that will live on in our club forever.

This memorial event is a chance to honour Brian's legacy - his passion for triathlon, his commitment to Maitland Triathlon Club, and the friendship he showed to all.

Forever part of MTC.
Forever missed.

Well it’s a quick turnaround and the grand finale of our 2025/26 season is only a week away.. Geez hasn’t the year flown 🤯🤯

Our program will be as per usual apart from our senior distance event. The distances will be the same but as always, our “Brian Lawrence Memorial Handicap” event will be in full swing to pay tribute to a club legend and finish another successful year with some friendly competition (for most 🤣🤣)

Handicap times & eligibility will be published here in the next few days 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️

There will be a post event BBQ with drinks, beers and bubbly to help ease the aches and share some stories after what’s been yet another great year for MTC.

It’s also the last opportunity to marshal and qualify for age group and end of year awards so please register using the link below and come finish off the 25/26 season on a high

See you all on Sunday 🙌🏼🔴🔵

The excitement is building for our Finish Lines Not Finish Times event this Sunday and we just wanted to highlight a couple of VERY important points:

Firstly, we are VERY short on Marshals (only 3 registered 😬) we would hate to see all those super keen for their first event miss out because we don’t have enough marshals. So PLEASE consider registering to marshal and get involved 🙏🏼.

Secondly, with the darker mornings, please consider a torch for transition setup. Also, if you lights (front and back, please pack these and use them for the ride leg) Safety is paramount 🙏🏼..

Please see below the schedule for Sunday morning (the junior start times may be later depending on the light) and if there are any questions, please reach out.
