Interestingly Maitland Council are able to mow and whipper snip crown land (despite telling us they have no insurance for their workers) up to the end of the path in Horseshoe Bend (Hunter St). But they can’t actually do the dangerous part to walkers, where there is no path, the grass is shin high, and the risk to stepping on a snake is very high, along the rest of Horseshoe Bend. MAKE SURE YOU CONTACT THE COUNCIL AND ASK THEM ABOUT THEIR CONTRADICTORY BEHAVIOUR :)

Finally we know who’s responsible for making sure we get a regular maintenance program along the Maitland Riverbank. James Shelton, Senior Planning Officer, Central Coast and Hunter Region, Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, 49042713. Time to start ringing because the bank needs mowing again. And don’t forget to share this with your Maitland friends :)

We’re a bit stunned, they’re mowing the bank on the first day after Xmas break. We’re not getting too hopeful that this may be the beginning of a regular maintenance program that keeps our city aesethically beautiful while keeping residents and visitors safe.

Finally, let’s see how long it lasts with all the rain we’ve been having! Please send emails to your members of Parliament like Jenny Aitcheson ([email protected]) and apparently the Minister for Energy and Environment, Matt Kean ([email protected]). Keep up the pressure so our town actually looks nice and we’re more protected from snakes etc!!!
