If only in Maitland????

What a way to start the week! Huge shoutout to Andrew Constance MP who yesterday announced $3 million in NSW Government funding to build mountain bike trails in the forests around Mogo. We've been working on the plans for a while with trail builders Dirt Art. Thanks to Andrew and the NSW Government, we'll now see 125km of world-class trails built, and 30km of existing trails formalised in Mogo State Forest. The network will link directly into Mogo village and Batehaven, creating a super-accessible adventure trails hub right here in Eurobodalla. The trails have potential to attract 45,000 visitors in first year of operation, that's roughly $11.8 million injected into the local economy. Just what we need. More here > http://bit.ly/MogoTrails

Please be advised that the 2nd feature on 3x3 is shut till the lower level is finished. As we have found people are riding it unfinished. Thanks

Some suggested MTB sites. I have requested a Maitland map outlining the crown land and other available areas so we can evaluate and hopefully find a suitable location. Fingers crossed.
Thoughts?

Wooroi Trail and Trailcare Update.

Mountain biking has proved to be one of the most popular exercise activities over the past four months during the COVID-19 restriction period. The sport has seen many newcomers, both individual and family join in with regular park riders to explore and enjoy our trail network. This very substantial increase in traffic has taken a visible toll on trail condition.

So, here is some great news!

Your committee has been successful with two recent grant applications, Noosa Council’s “Disaster Recovery and Resilience Grant (COVID-19)” and the Queensland State Government’s “COVID Safe Active Clubs Kickstart Round 1” grant. The funds obtained will be used to engage local contractor Trailworx to complete a refresh of two of our most popular trails, Milkmaid and Bloodwood, along with a tidy up of the first section of Indy from the Day Use area car park to the creek bridge.

This will start on Monday July 20 and will see each of the trails closed as the work is being completed and the trail surface is left to settle. Please respect the signs and dont ride the trails until they are opened again.

We will supplement the work on Milkmaid with an extended Trailcare session over both Saturday and Sunday July 25/26 so put one or both of those dates in your diary.

The sessions will start at the top of Milkmaid at 7:00. These sessions are open to everyone so if you enjoy our trails and would like to give something back to their upkeep then come along and join us. Watch out for further posts on these sessions next weekend.

Hi all, after attending a meeting on Tuesday night about cycling in Maitland it was decided to create some pages to generate interest and have a platform to show the interest in MTB riding and having somewhere to ride (approved and legally) in the Maitland area.
Please share this page, invit others to like. We will continue to work on the page, happy for help with it so more and more people can contribute and be involved.
There is also a page more focused on cycling infrastructure on Maitland that i suggest you also follow, the more numbers the better.
