A big shout out to my two lady clients this morning.!
It was a great couple of sessions with improvement in the Ranch Sorting pens.! Sometimes it’s the littlest movement or reading the stock that can make or break a good run.!
Well done Beth and Deb I love having you guys out and thank you for supporting.!!

We have been extremely busy out at the barn, however a little bit quiet on the socials.!

The second week of January I had 3 clients out for individual lessons. And on Tuesday, I had three lovely ladies out to hire the cattle and work on their young horses..

A massive shout out to my off the track thoroughbred Mason who was the team leader in the lesson department today.
Mason has had roughly 5 small sessions of exposure with the cows and today he stepped up like an absolute pro. He’s not cowey at all, however loves being amongst the cows and shows NO fear… He’s bendy and supple and does everything I ask him. I’m really excited for him to improve more and then step it up to a more busy busy environment on competition day.!!

Do you have an OTT in the way of a thoroughbred or a standardbred? If so, hit me up I would love to work out a plan to see your horses out here. It’s great for them mentally and physically whilst all been done in a safe controlled environment. You might be surprised some of these free inexpensive horses are showing more confidence around the cows than some of the overpriced well bred horses you might say.!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽

A quick Merry Christmas message to all my “Weekday Working With Cattle” clients and all supporters of Magdala Arena over this past season.!
It has been so well received and a huge thank you to everyone that has accommodated this crazy weather from 40° to torrential rain.!

As we take a small break over the holiday period we wish you all a happy healthy Christmas and New Year’s with your family friends and of course your horses .!

Absolutely delighted with the progress Kate and Squirrel have made with their cattle work. It’s just their fourth session and they have graduated from the round pen out to the arena and today we took it up a level with them sorting 5 head in the ranch pens and giving Kate a crash course lesson in all things Ranch Sorting of course.!!

Excited to say they will be attending our clinic with Dawn Barwick from B&L Performance Horses on Friday and I am super proud of them for stepping out of their comfort zone and embracing their new found love for cow horse sports.!

A beautiful morning spent with Dawn and her gorgeous standardbred Teddy.! This was Dawn’s second time out and they have come along leaps and bounds in such a short amount of time..

I found it’s not all just about working the cattle it’s about having beautiful people out that have maybe a little bit of self-doubt or or maybe they don’t have that breed of horse that fits the stereotypical cow horse sports. However, let me tell you they come in all shapes and sizes and Teddy has been very excepting of his new job and watching Dawn blossom with him has been truly beautiful..

A beautiful start to the week with Kate and Squirrel back.! They have graduated from the small pen with the two quiet pets Oreo & Limpy to the big arena learning to work and manipulate the cattle in a bigger environment.!

Kate has achieved a lot in a short amount of time and watching her start to read the cattle and move them naturally is awesome.!! 👏🏼👏🏼

Some availability Wednesday (Murray Bridge Racing) as my co worker covers that meet. If you’d like to come out and give it ago or pencil in a lesson I have some availability on Thursday and Friday DM the page to see what time slots are available.

A quiet week this week, due to my racing commitments, falling on Tuesday Melbourne Cup Day and Thursday races at Gawler.

Next week is looking lovely weatherwise and I have some availability on Thursday 1pm to 2pm only some time on Friday.
Tuesday is booked out.!

A bit of a change to my usual Wednesday of racing & clerking commitments.!

Two lovely clients in this morning both with different goals.!

First we had Amanda and Belle out to see how this beautiful standardbred mare would adapt to cow horse life and wow she was amazing. From the moment she stepped off the float right up until her morning session had finished. She didn’t put a foot wrong and dive straight into working and manipulating the cattle she took to it like the queen she is 🖤

I can’t wait to see her out and about.! Well done Amanda on giving this beautiful mare a life after racing.

Then we followed up with my 2nd client and her beautiful horse who wanted to work on her team penning skills and keep her beautiful mare cool and settled in what can be a high-pressure competitive environment. We also brushed up on skills and how to manipulate and move the cattle to assist her on her competition days.

Well done to both of my clients today it’s so rewarding working with a diverse group of riders and horses all with one common interest. 🐴🐮🫶🏼
