Social Tennis is back on Wednesday nights 🎾
As the weather is warming up, we are hoping to get a few weeks in before the school holidays to dust off the racquets. If you are interested, please get in touch by messaging the page or texting Kate on 0400526701 so you can be added to the group chat. All abilities welcome.

A round robin draw will be set up to begin after the holidays with the hope of running both a beginner and intermediate time slot 😁

🎾 Fancy taking up tennis as your summer sport?

Maffra Lawn Tennis Club is inviting keen players to join its senior and junior teams for the upcoming 2026-27 Wellington Gippsland Tennis Association pennant season, starting in October.

It’s a great opportunity to improve your tennis, meet new people and play for the chance to contest pennants in the finals.

The senior season begins Saturday, October 3, with juniors taking to the courts a week later on Saturday, October 10.

The season runs through to March 2027, with a break over the Christmas holiday period.

New players are always welcome! And if you’ve played with the club before and haven’t signed up yet, now’s the time.

🎾 Message the club as soon as possible if you’re interested in playing.

📷 MLTC had plenty of success in the 2025-26 season, with two junior teams and three senior teams contesting grand finals.

🎾 Help shape the 100th Maffra Easter Tournament 🎾

The countdown is on to the 100th Maffra Lawn Tennis Club Easter Tournament in 2027, and we want to make this milestone a fitting celebration of one of Maffra’s most cherished traditions.

If you have ideas to make this tournament one to remember, the committee would love to hear them.

Anyone is welcome to come along to a brainstorming session and help us plan everything from:

🥪 Food and drink
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family activities
🏆 Special events and celebrations..or anything else you’d love to see at the 100th tournament.

Vale — Nick Board

On behalf of the Maffra Lawn Tennis Club community, we are deeply saddened by Nick's passing. We share our condolences to Nick's family, particularly to Nick's children - Charlotte and Dylan, and to Nick's extended family and friends. The Gippsland tennis community has lost a fantastic friend, tennis coach and player who's spark will be missed both on and off the court.

Nick was known for his fantastic tennis skill as a player and coach, however it was his hilarious banter we will miss the most. Nick's competitiveness extended beyond the courts, turning fierce on-court rivalries into shared jokes over a cold frothie afterwards, making you feel welcome with his sharp wit and infectious humor. The clubhouse will feel quieter without his jokes, and cheeky banter.

We are grateful for Nick's valuable contribution to our tennis community. As a coach, he mentored countless players, shaping not just their games, but their love for the sport. As a player, Nick played in many local pennant and Maffra Tennis Easter tournament battles, experiencing success with his frustrating kick serves, strategic placement, and extensive technical knowledge.

We extend our deepest condolences to his children Charlotte and Dylan. We were fortunate to have Nick's support recently, cheering his son Dylan on in our local Section One Grand Final victory, as well as at state level, where Nick's proudness as a father for Dylan's success, was evident to everyone.

RIP Nick, your legacy lives on in the players you've inspired, guided, and cheered for over the years.

Our lil’ old Maffra Saturday pennant section one premier team just won the Tennis Victoria State Championships for our section by one set. We came a draw after normal play that ran over a two day weekend, and then our wonderful MLTC Club coach Anthony Glynn with Dylan Board stepped up to win a super tiebreaker 10/7 to get the result. GO MAFFRA 🎾🖤❤️💪 Congrats Alecia Dignan, Erika Allen, Anthony Glynn, Dylan Board, and Julie Foat. Thomas Foley and Declan Simons was there with us in tennis spirit 🙌

That’s a wrap on another incredible MLTC Easter Tournament🎾🏆🐇

A total of 325 players battled it out across 45 events, playing 593 matches over four huge days.

Our 99th tournament wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our volunteers. From organising draws and keeping matches running smoothly (even through Friday’s drizzle), to organising catering, court prep, cleaning, and keeping players fuelled and hydrated - thank you to the amazing people behind the scenes.

Next year marks a huge milestone as we celebrate 100 years of our beloved Easter Tournament, which is widely considered Gippsland’s oldest annual tournament.

We know many of you have been part of it for decades, and we can’t wait to see you back. We’ll set the stage - you bring the tennis and the vibes!
