This week we take a look at someone who could actually pass themselves off as a traditional Viking warrior, Sean Corrigan!
Sean has been at Vikings for 18 years now, and has racked up over 350 games in green, as well as being a regular at Skins and Pan Pacs tournaments and the odd Worlds Masters. Sean has been our resident groundsman for longer than many people have even been at the club, he has also occasionally dabbled at coaching and has contributed for a long time on the committee.
Sean rates his greatest sporting achievement as being part of a Division 1 team that won back to back premierships (this was before most of our current Division 1 players were even born) and many of the older Vikings first memory of Sean is as an opponent, where he had a reputation as being "fairly competitive".
Outside of softball Sean is a strong supporter of the Australian Cricket Team and the no-longer-Oakland-but-about-to-be-Vegas Athletics. He loves Japanese cuisine (and beer) but his other true passion is music, always bringing the tunes with him wherever he may go. He loves a live show with Nick Cave, Boy and Bear with Cloud Control being recent highlights. He also tinkers with an old HG he has at home, loves getting away to the Gold Coast and rates his recent trip to Shark Bay very highly.
For his favourite softball memory Sean talks about when he first came to Vikings, and being made to feel so welcome and a part of the club from day 1. It probably helps that he also won another premiership that year. When we asked Sean what he most enjoyed about being at the Vikings he replied “I feel at home here, part of a big, mostly happy, slightly dysfunctional family."
So next time you come off the diamonds (remember to rake the cutouts inwards, not outwards) spare a thought for the groundsman and bring him over a nice cold -196.

Over the weekend Vikings hosted the 2026 U16’s and U18’s Singapore Tournament, which included teams from Singapore in both age groups with the Sluggers being their U16’s entrant and the Panthers being their U18’s entrant.
The local talent included teams from Fremantle Rebels, Rocky Ora, Morley Eagles, and Vikings. Games were played starting early Friday night and all through the day on Saturday. All teams in each age bracket played against each other once in the group stage followed by a 4 team finals series to decide the victor.
In the end the U16’s saw Morley Eagles go through the group stage undefeated before taking care of the Fremantle Rebels in the decider 2-0.
Fremantle Rebels managed to balance the ledger in the U18’s though, going through the group stage undefeated and eventually accounting for Rocky Ora 6-5 in the decider.
A big thankyou to everyone who travelled to make the event possible. From the Singapore teams and supporters flying in, to the local teams and their supporters who braved the weather to support their teams over the 2 days it was a great weekend to be a part of.
Also a thankyou to the umpires from SWA who officiated every game and did a fantastic job keeping the tournament running on time.
Finally to all the volunteers (coaches, managers, committee and parents) who helped over the weekend, without your dedication and effort there would be no teams or players going on to the field, so thank you very much!

This week's player in focus is our most recent life member Fraser Nicol Jr!
A 21 year veteran of the club Fraser was on track to hit his 400th game this season but instead had a "minor incident" at skins which has kept him off the field this year, but in true Vikings fashion Fraser is still chipping in around the club as a committee member and coaching the Div 2 Green side (and supporting the bar).
Fraser has held many roles at the club, including a very accomplished run as president. He was also a rather successful junior player, making the U/16's and U/19's WA sides, which he rates as some of his best achievements to go along with throwing a perfect game last year.
Fraser is a dedicated West Coast Eagles supporter, likes getting out on the water for a fish, and loves a good feed of Italian. He enjoys listening to a bit of Ed Sheeran and his favourite getaway is to the U.S.A.
Fraser reckons his favourite memory is receiving life membership to the best softball club in Australia, and when asked what he most enjoys about being at the Vikings he replied "the mateship and the camaraderie."
So next time you see Fraser floating around the club, grab a side track for him and have a yarn!
