Another great day for the Bay Islands veteran golfers the first round of the teams events was played at Mount Warren with Peter Bennett claiming runner-up in division three and John Sims Mike Ford Don Davidson Paul McCallum and Gail Spann winning balls in the rundown and for those that didn’t win a ball, enjoyed the boat ride home. The next round will be played at Windaroo on 21 September. Well done to everybody that played. It was a great day. I will keep you updated with the results when they come to hand happy golfing everyone.

It was another glorious day for Golf for all our Bay Island’s veteran golfers on Sunday some go to extraordinary lengths to get the right shot as you can see from this one by Gail Waldorff down the ninth. The Bay Islands veteran golfers had their Sunday competition on the 23rd August generously sponsored by Ralph and Lyn Robertson longtime supporters of the Bay Island’s vets. The winners were for the men Peter Bennett with 39 points. The runner-up Brian Henry with 36 points the ladies winner and overall winner was Wendy Kotynski with 40 points and the runner-up was Jan Bray with 33 points. They were also very generous with prizes for the pin shots and on the fourth they were won by Jan and Baz on the sixth Gail S and Paul McCallum on the seventh by Michael Treay and Greg Cain and Wendy Kotynski and on the eighth by Jan Bray and John Asher a fabulous day was had by all and we can’t thank our sponsors enough. Well done to everybody that played and supported the club.

Thank you to Paul McCallum for the wonderful trophy that he has used his wood turning skills and talent in generously making the men’s championship trophy. The ladies one will be ready by the time they will be presented at the end of the year. Thank you once again Paul they are exceptional.

Another great day was had by the Bay Islands Veteran Golfers, perfect weather and a few perfect shots in good company. A big thank you to our sponsorship from Club Macleay the ladies winner of the Club Macleay voucher went to Zan Howe and the men’s recipient was Nigel McLauchlan.

Just a reminder to everybody the first round of the Albert and Logan teams event is on 31 August at Mount Warren Park and the nominations have to be in by the 17th so let me know if you can play or I’ll be checking with everybody when I see you at Golf next. Thanks to everybody being patient today with the computer problems but we got there in the end happy golfing all cheers Gail

The Men’s winner of the daily game of the 2nd Round of the Vets Championships was Larry Fabian with 66 net and the runner up was Nigel McLachlan with 67 net. The ladies winner was Carrol Alfonso with 68 net and the runner up was Zan Howe with 69 net. The final results of the Championships will be advised shortly. 🍻🥂 Cheers to the winners and all the other players

Unfortunately due to conditions of the course and the weather the veterans round two of their championships game tomorrow Sunday the 19th has been postponed until next Sunday the 26th. Please put your names down again and we hope to see you all there next week. For anyone playing at Windaroo on Monday. This game is still on round two. Of the Albert and Logan championships Good luck to everybody in the running and to everybody that just wants to enjoy the day.

The men’s winner of today’s 9 holes stroke/9 holes stableford Vets game was Brian “Irish” Henry with a great score of 5 points and the runner up was Ian Gilleard with 14 points. The ladies winner was Barb Garvey with 17 points and the runner up was Gail Waldorff with 20 points. The lucky winners of the $30 Club Macleay vouchers were Sue Domrow and Larry Fabian. Congratulations to Paul McCallum for getting a birdie on the 8th. Well done to all the winners and all the other vets who played today 👏
