I think it's often overlooked that mental growth and clarity requires the same training efforts as physical growth. From a person who struggled to rest my mind at bedtime until my 30's to a person who received comments like 'easy for you to say, you just close your eyes and your asleep'. If we are looking to fall asleep easily or gain some mental peace, we need to set aside dedicated training and effort times just like setting a gym schedule for our body. Mental peace, happiness and rest requires effort to grow. Mental training is difficult, but so was your first chin up or push up. How bad do you really want to be happy? Bad enough to go through some discomfort in the short term for long term benefit? Correct training efforts, sufficient training time, happiness is your choice. What are you choosing?

Judo isn't as popular as some of the other close quarters Martial Arts and many are asking why this is the case. I certainly believe Judo to be an effective Martial Art when used correctly. So why isn't it growing? My opinion is monkey see monkey do. In UFC most people do BJJ so the crowd follows. I don't think we should change Judo to please people. Martial Arts should give students what they need, not what they want. We don't run classes to entertain people.

Electric atmosphere at the Australian National Championships again this year. Always great to see the developing talent of our Australian youngsters and catch up with fellow Judoka from around the country.
These massive events and the smaller events around Australia run on the selflessness of dedicated volunteers who continue to give time and effort to the sport - so grateful to the people who make this happen 🙏 Thank you

VIRTUE
1. Behaviour showing high moral standard.
A trait of excellence, included traits may be moral, social, or intellectual. The cultivation and refinement of virtue is held to be the "good of humanity" and thus is valued as an end purpose of life or a foundational principle of being. In human practical ethics, a virtue is a disposition to choose actions that succeed in showing high moral standards: doing what is said to be right and avoiding what is wrong in a given field of endeavour, even when doing so may be unnecessary from a utilitarian perspective. When someone takes pleasure in doing what is right, even when it is difficult or initially unpleasant, they can establish virtue as a habit. Such a person is said to be virtuous through having cultivated such a disposition.
In short, be a good person and strive to not bring harm to others.

DETERMINATION
1. The quality of being determined; firmness of purpose.
"those who succeed because of sheer grit and determination"

Now that you have dedicated yourself to a purpose, you will need determination to continue. Some days are easier than others but with true grit and determination, your goals remain within reach. Even if some days you have to drag yourself there.....

DEDICATION
1. The quality of being dedicated or committed to a task or purpose.
"his dedication to his duties"

This one is self explanatory. When we want to learn or achieve a new skill whether it be Martial Arts or just wanting to feel better within ourselves, dedication to the task is required to obtain progress. The level and quality within which you dedicate yourself to the task will have a significant impact on the progress you make. If you're dedicating only a little time, you are still moving forward and you can build that momentum when realisation of progress encourages it.

I see much of Ip Man's Wing Chun influence in Bruce Lee's Jeet Kun Do. It is my opinion that Jeet Kun Do is Bruce Lee's expression of Wing Chun Kungfu. To me, Jeet Kun Do still follows Wing Chun principles and strategies but Bruce Lee has branched out, learnt a wider range of techniques than the usual Wing Chun practitioners, created his version of Wing Chun and named it.
