🏏 Five Junior Sharkies have been in Brisbane this week playing in the Century Champions League!

A big shoutout to Connor Doolan, Jack Harriott and Hunter Towner (Under 14 Rays), Spencer Faulkner (Under 13 Magic) and George Harriott (Under 12 Rays).

The boys have all made valuable contributions to their teams while playing against quality opposition. It’s been a great learning experience for them.

Southern Suburbs Cricket Club endorses and adopts Australian Cricket’s Community Concussion and Head Impact Guidelines.

These reflect the most up-to-date recommendations in the approach to Concussion Management and are a conservative approach that prioritises the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved in cricket.

What a nail-biter! Souths 3rd Grade pulled off a fantastic win against Norths 3rd Grade Red in the Bidfood 3rd Division One Day Cup at Harrup Park. After winning the toss and Norths electing to bat first, the Souths bowling attack put on a masterclass to restrict Norths to 149 all out. Miten Patel led the charge with a brilliant spell of 3-21 off 4.1 overs, while Sachin Sondhi (2-22) and captain Bayden Smith (2-11) kept the pressure on with two wickets each. Ashish Rana, Pradip Singh, and Adarsh Gabani also chipped in with a wicket apiece to keep Norths under control.
Chasing 150 for victory, Souths held their nerve through a fantastic middle-order fightback to finish at 8-150. Arpit Shukla anchored the innings brilliantly, top-scoring with a stellar 50 off 51 balls, hitting 9 fours. Ashish Rana backed it up with a brilliant 48 runs from 61 balls, also smashing 9 boundaries. Ben Bloxsidge added a quick-fire 16, while skipper Bayden Smith (17* off 27) and Sachin Sondhi (7* off 😎 calmly saw the team across the line under pressure. A thrilling team effort with both bat and ball to secure a hard-fought 2-wicket victory! Well played, boys! 🏏💪

Souths 2nd Grade Match Report
Tough day out for the Souths 2nd Grade side in the DBCT 2nd Grade Cup at Abbott Park!

After heading out to field first, the bowling attack put in a hard shift against Pinnacle 2nd Grade. Madhava satyam Murali led the charge brilliantly with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for 35 runs off his 5 overs. Miten Patel provided great support with 2 scalps (45/2), while Bayden Smith chipped in with 1 wicket. Despite their efforts, Pinnacle managed to put up a challenging total of 7-264.

Chasing 265 for victory, Souths unfortunately struggled to gain momentum against a disciplined bowling attack and were bundled out for 83 in 28 overs. Wicketkeeper Gursimran Singh fought hard at the crease, top-scoring with a patient 34 off 60 balls. Vivek Sanchaniya (13) and skipper Ben Bloxsidge (13) also tried to stabilize the innings, but the team ultimately fell short.

Plenty of grit shown out in the middle despite the result—heads up, boys, and onto the next one! 🏏💪

🏏 DBCT Poole 1st Grade Cup Match Report

Souths 1st Grade hit the road to Harrup Park 5 for a tough One-Day encounter against Pioneer Valley on Saturday. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Souths fought hard to put 160 on the board in 34.4 overs.

Matthew Logan anchored the innings brilliantly with a stellar knock of 57 off 64 balls (featuring 7 fours and 3 sixes), while Aaron Shield contributed a valuable 31 down the order. Zachary Ridley also chipped in with a brisk 21.

Defending 160, the Souths bowling attack ran into a fast-scoring Pioneer Valley side. Caleb Moss and Shah Hussain each picked up a wicket, but Pioneer Valley chased down the target in 14.5 overs.

Heads held high, Sharks—plenty of cricket left to play this season! 🦈💙

🏏 Congratulations, Spencer! 🌟

A huge congratulations to Souths junior Spencer Faulkner, who has been selected in the Queensland School Sport 10–12 Years Boys Cricket Team after performing strongly for Capricornia at this week’s State Championships.

Spencer will travel to Newcastle in late October to represent Queensland at the National School Sport Cricket Championships.

An outstanding achievement, Spencer, the entire Souths Cricket Club is incredibly proud of you! 🦈💙
