Last week the ownership group made the decision to retire Kattegat. Retiring as a sound 9 year old.

“Felix”, as he’s known around the stable, has been with us for the past 6 years and he’s been an incredibly special horse to be part of. From his swagger to and from the track, to his cheeky ability to stir up the other horses, or his love of splashing around in the water — he always found a way to put a smile on everyone’s face each day.

Purchased for just $30,000, Felix went on to earn over $320,000 on the track, recording 10 wins and 19 placings. Even at 9 years old he was still producing highlights, breaking the 1000m track record at Tumut — a true testament to his toughness and love of racing.

Just as importantly, Felix brought together a fantastic group of owners who have formed great friendships along the journey.

Thank you Felix for all the memories and everything you’ve given us. We can’t wait to watch you enjoy the next chapter of your career. ❤️

What a place to be based at 🙌

That’s why we love training out of

Splendid Magnus was set to race at Orange today, but with the meeting called off this morning, plans quickly changed. With Cowra on Monday, she still needed her gallop — and that’s where the facilities here make all the difference.

Within minutes of the call-off she was on the walker, then saddled up and heading to the Poly Track for her work.

Access to the Poly 6 days a week means it doesn’t matter what day it is or how much rain we’ve had — the surface is always perfect 👌

Triple Header. Two Winners. Big Effort from the Team.

It was a busy few days with runners at Tumut, Nowra and Orange last weekend.

Saturday – Tumut
We made our first trip to Tumut with stable legend Kattegat for the Tumut Sprint — and he didn’t disappoint. A gutsy win, brilliantly ridden by .

⏱ Track record – 1000m
To be doing this at 9 years old… what a special horse.

Sunday – Nowra
Abstruse, as honest as they come, looked the winner but the big weight on a wet track over the extra 100m just told late. A brave 3rd.
Airfield jumped well and controlled the race early but couldn’t quite finish it off in the final 100m.

Monday – Orange
Our triple header wrapped up with Splendid Magnus on a Heavy 10. From a good gate she settled just behind the leaders. When they began to tire, made the bold call to head to the inside — where no one else wanted to go. She cut the corner, hit the front on straightening and held them off for a tough maiden victory.

Abstruse kicked off our two-day carnival in style and didn’t disappoint. 🙌
A well-deserved victory for Abstruse and , who pushed through a needle-eye gap and flashed home to get up on the line. What a ride!

Congratulations to all connections and owners 👏

Darken was our other runner for the weekend. He had no luck and was forced wide throughout, but he’ll take plenty of benefit from this run first-up. He’ll be much better suited stepping up to 1600m+.

Splendid Magnus kicked off our Cowra Cup Day in Race 1.
A little tardy away, but she mustered quickly to take a spot just behind the leaders. She didn’t love the tight Cowra home bend, but that last 100m was 😍.
Really looking forward to seeing her step up to 1400m.

Then it was a long wait until Lysander in Race 9.
He jumped okay, but from a tricky gate had to work hard early to find the lead. The tight Cowra track didn’t suit and he hung a bit, giving Brock a torrid ride. Lysander knocked up late to finish 7th.

The Cowra track was absolutely incredible — and the steak sandwiches are the best in the land 🥩🔥

The ultra-consistent Abstruse delivered another strong performance at Wagga yesterday.
She settled a touch closer in the run, was momentarily held up at a vital stage, but powered home late to grab second behind a promising winner.

Darken stepped out for his first trial of the prep after the last. Following a jump-out a couple of weeks ago, this hit-out topped off his fitness perfectly and he’ll head to the races in the coming weeks.

Plenty to like going forward.
