A great weekend with around 50 marksmen & women on hand for our annual open championship weekend.
Brett McCauley continued his recent hot form taking out the target rifle grand aggregate for the first time shedding only one point for the weekend just ahead of Damon Livermore who was a chasing a repeat of his 2024 victory.
F Standard went to Terry Knight from Eugowra just ahead Bruce Rowlands. F Open headed by Ben Froome of Gosford a single point ahead of Mal Sharp. FTR Sean Wilson once again from Gosford ahead of Bill Chandler of Cobar.
Since again a great time had by all. Numbers maybe a little down with the Victoria Pass situation and fuel prices having some effect but those that made it a great time was had.
Thanks again to all our sponsors head by Elders Emms Mooney once again and many many others.
Here’s a quick few photos I will post the presentation photos probably tomorrow.

For those coming up from Sydney for this weekends Open Championship keep across this as the week goes on.

⛔️ GREAT WESTERN HIGHWAY CLOSED BOTH DIRECTIONS

- MOUNT VICTORIA TO LITTLE HARTLEY

The Great Western Highway is now closed in both directions between Little Hartley and Mount Victoria due to ongoing geotechnical investigation and road assessment at Victoria Pass.

The highway had been closed eastbound, but westbound lanes are also now closed.

↪️ Diversions are in place in both directions via Chifley Road and Darling Causeway.

Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time.

School buses will be diverting away from the area.

(What a communications mess from the NSW Government after a media release yesterday saying buses would operate Westbound under traffic control).

600 yards this afternoon with a full dress rehearsal for next weeks Open Championship.
A very calm, overcast day certainly lent to high scoring with Vickie Ralph Garlick top scoring F Class with a perfect 120 whilst Ben Emms enjoyed a return to the top of the tree with 150.25 in TR.
As mentioned earlier next week will see our annual Open Championship being contested over the full two days. Elders Emms Mooney returns as major sponsor once again with three Benchmark Barrels up for grabs across TR, F Open and F Open.
Saturday will see shooting commence @ 9.30am @ 500 yards with 500 metres and 600 yards to follow on. Sunday the program will be 500 yards, 600 yards and 600 yards once again.
With some of the countries highest ranked riflemen and women on had the standard will be high and highly anticipated.
If you haven’t entered already we will be gladly accepting walk up entries on Saturday morning so make sure you come along.
Anyhow 6 sleeps to go have a great week and we will see you Saturday.
PS sorry about the Brett McCauley flood in the photos - he was the only one on point when the camera came out - he does think he is quite photogenic though!

Quite a challenging day at 300 metres with a few visitors from Bathurst due to the car races bolstering numbers up to 15 riflemen.
Dwayne Rumsey had a great day out with a new tube to boot topping the TR/Sporter card with 149.17 well clear of Brett McCauley best with the irons 146.17 taking sweet revenge over Ben Emms 145.17.
On the F Class board Vickie Ralph Garlick proved he’s still mixing it with the Open guns with 116.10 a point clear of Mal Sharp 115.05.
Next week see us move back to 500 yards for the second round of the Stan Jeffery Memorial trophy.
A quick reminder entries are open on the try booking site for the Lyndhurst Open Championship being held over the weekend of 14/15 March. 500y, 500m & 600y over both days get your entries in.
Have a great week, see you on the range soon.

Finally the heat has relented and we got back to the more civilised practice of shooting of an afternoon with a turnout of 13 members enjoying a challenging 800 yard session.
Mal Sharp showed some great form topping the F Class field with a maximum score - 120.10 just ahead of Vickie Ralph Garlick on 119.14
Ben Emms cleaned up in TR 150.17 ahead of Jim Jeffery and Brett McCauley both on 148.19.
800 yards saw the conclusion of the Ted Boys Memorial trophy with Mal showing consistency pays off taking the silverware ahead of Ralph 397 points against 394.5.
Next week sees us back up the front @ 300 metres with the start of the Stan Jeffery Memorial.
Remember entries are now open for the Lyndhurst Championship to be held in the 14th & 15th of March.
Have a great week

With the summer temperatures still pushing their limits today shooting was from 8.30 am - and as it pushed over 40c in the afternoon it certainly proved to be a good call.
Brett McCauley showed that spending the majority of the summer in air conditioned comfort - albeit a tractor cab 🤣 - pays off showing plenty of form to top the TR card with 149.24.
Meanwhile Blake Savage put on a master class in F Class with 120.11 which I think I can say with some certainty will be a 700 yard range record!
Hopefully this heat wave will push through before next Saturday which will see us return to the more respectable habit of shooting in the afternoon - the song might say “it’s 5 o’clock somewhere” but cracking a stubby at 11am just doesn’t feel right (we’re a rifle club not a fishing club after all 😉)
Have a great week, catch you on the range soon.
