✨ What’s the “pop” during a chiropractic adjustment?

One of the most common questions we get!

That popping sound isn’t bones cracking. It’s simply the release of gas within the joint as movement is restored.

Think of it like opening a bottle of sparkling water—the sound comes from pressure being released.

Not every adjustment creates a pop, and a successful adjustment doesn’t depend on hearing one. The goal is always improved movement, function and nervous system communication.

At Aligned Family Chiropractic, we’re focused on helping your body move and function at its best—whether you hear a pop or not. 🤎

Have you ever wondered what causes the sound during an adjustment?

✨ Your jaw is more connected to your body than you might think!

Jaw dysfunction (TMJ) can contribute to headaches, neck tension, ear discomfort, teeth grinding, and even upper back tightness.

Because the jaw, neck, and nervous system work closely together, restrictions in one area can often affect the others.

At Aligned, we assess the whole body and not just where the symptoms are showing up which helps to restore better movement and function.

If you’ve been dealing with persistent jaw tension, headaches, or clenching, it may be worth looking beyond the jaw itself.

Our bodies are incredibly good at adapting, but sometimes those adaptations turn into compensations that place extra stress on joints, muscles and the nervous system.

Whether it’s from work, sport, pregnancy, parenting, or simply everyday life, regular chiropractic care can help keep your body moving the way it was designed to.

✨ DRY NEEDLING ✨

Tight muscles? Persistent tension? A stubborn area that keeps flaring up?

Dry needling is a technique we may incorporate into your treatment to help release muscle trigger points, reduce muscle tension and improve movement.

Combined with chiropractic care, dry needling can help address the muscular component of pain and dysfunction, supporting your recovery and helping you get back to doing what you love.

✔ Reduce muscle tension
✔ Improve mobility
✔ Ease trigger points
✔ Support recovery

Every treatment is tailored to your individual needs.

✨ GUA SHA ✨

For those stubborn areas that just won’t seem to improve, Gua Sha can be a great addition to your treatment.

This soft tissue technique helps to release muscle tension, improve circulation, reduce stiffness and support your body’s natural recovery process.

At Aligned Family Chiropractic, we often incorporate Gua Sha alongside chiropractic adjustments when treating chronic tension, tight muscles and long-standing problem areas.

The redness seen after treatment is a normal response and usually fades within a few days.

✨ Move better. Feel better.

Your body speaks before it screams 🤍

The headaches.
The tight shoulders.
The constant tension.
The exhaustion that coffee doesn’t fix.

These can be signs your body is asking for support, not just survival mode.

Sometimes the smallest changes make the biggest difference:
✨ Better movement
✨ Better posture
✨ More time to reset
✨ Nervous system support

You don’t have to “just put up with it.”

Tightness isn’t always the real problem.
Often the body is compensating for poor movement patterns, instability, posture changes, old injuries or daily stress patterns.

Over time, these compensations can lead to recurring pain, tension and imbalance through the spine and nervous system.

Some of the most common things we see:
• recurring neck tension
• one-sided shoulder pain
• headaches
• hip imbalance
• lower back tightness
• postural fatigue

When we assess the body, we’re not just looking at where it hurts — we’re looking at why the body is compensating in the first place.

3 signs your child may need an adjustment

As a parent, you know when something feels a little “off”… but it’s not always obvious what that is.

Here are 3 common signs I see in practice 👇

1. Uneven movement or posture
– Head tilt
– Favouring one side
– W-sitting or slouching

This can be a sign their body is compensating and not moving as freely as it should.

2. Frequent falls or clumsiness
More than other kids their age, or struggling with coordination and balance.

This often links back to how the brain + body are communicating.

3. Ongoing tension or discomfort
– Complaints of sore neck/back
– Restless sleep
– Always wanting to be carried (in younger kids)

Sometimes kids don’t say “I’m in pain”… it shows up in other ways.

✨ Gentle chiropractic care can help support their nervous system, movement, and overall function.

If you’ve been noticing any of these, it might be worth getting them checked.
