Hi Maitland Rugby Families,
Hope you are all well and have been keeping abreast of the all the changes that we are going through to get back to some normality of life.

I have some fantastic news for our great club that we can return to training as of the 1st July and we will do so.
There are a number of guidelines that we still have to adhere to but we are back.

I firstly want to thank you all for your patience and hope you are all looking forward to returning like I am. We have surveyed the juniors, some parents for some reason haven’t received the email but the for the majority it is very positive for the amount of players coming back, in fact only 3 out of 340 returned surveys will not be returning.
As part of the return to training we have had to limit the amount of training sessions, this may change as we progress through the coming months.
In the meantime below is what we have allocated to each team. If you have any issues please let me know ASAP.

Under 7’s will be training and playing on the Saturday mornings
Under 8’s Tuesday 4.30-5.15 Field 4
Under 9’s Thursday 4.40-5.15 Field 1
Under 10’s Wednesday 4.30-5.30 Field 4
Under 11’s Wednesday 4.45-5.45 Field 2
Under 12’s Wednesday 5.00-6.00 Field 3
Under 13’s Thursday 5.00-6.00 Field 3
Under 14’s Tuesday 4.45-5.45 Field 2
Under 15’s Tuesday 5.00-6.00 Field 1
Under 16’s Monday & Friday 5.30-6.30 Field 2
Under 18’s Tuesday & Thursday 6.00-7.00 Field 2
Girls Teams Thursday 4.45-5.45 Field 2

What is required to attend training.
We need to emphasize to parents that there is only a 10minute window for then to drop off player and sign the attendance sheet.
No parent spectators to enter inside the NEW boundary fence(See attached), if there are any parents that normally assist they will now have to registered on RugbyX as a volunteer.
All players are to be drop at the ENTRANCE only area(Northern end) proceed to the 1877 club area to be marked off, hand sanitiser(club will provide) will be there for EVERYONE to hand sanitise before proceeding directly to their training field. Players are to arrive ready to train, no getting changed before or after training. Once training is over they are all to EXIT immediately after training through the EXIT only(Southern End of the Club). Anyone showing symptoms of Cold/Flu are not allowed to train.
Manager or Registered Volunteer from your team will be present at the start of training to make sure the attendance sheet is filled in and everyone has sanitised their hands.
The attendance sheets are to be email though to myself that night/completion of training. Any team that has not supplied their attendance sheet before the next training session WILL NOT train that week.
As we are all aware we are in trying times, thing may seem harsh or over the top but we have to follow guidelines that have been set in place for us to be able to return. I am hoping to be the first training session for all teams just to assist and or help with any issue that may arise.
Coaches MUST stick to the training time set so we can avoid any cross pollination of teams.

As far as the competition goes, we are due to start July 25th. Looking like it will be a 10week competition with a first past the post winner. This may change as everything about normal is now very fluid.

We are also currently organising trials on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th July. At this stage our u14s and one of our u18s will be playing a trial under lights at Rugby Park, Singleton (6pm & 7.15pm) on Friday 17th July. Our u16s (6pm) will be playing under lights at Marcellin v Singo on the 17th as well. We are still working on getting another u18s team to play our other team on that night also. On Saturday the 18th July, Singleton will be sending 2 x u8’s teams down here to play our u8’s and an u9s team. Our one of u10s, u12’s and u13s will head up to Singleton to play the Bulls. We are currently in communication with Nelson’s Bay, Lake Macquarie, Merewether and Northlakes (Central Coast) about getting some of their teams to play our left over teams. Please stay tuned, as we will be having trials on the 17th and 18th July. Another week of rugby for our kids.

Once again, thanks for hanging in there and supporting this great club.
Please feel free to contact me directly 0413437236 if you have any concerns at all.

Kindest Regards

Chris

🚨Update from the President🚨

Good afternoon MRC family,

As per the official statement released from Rugby Australia earlier this afternoon, all rugby and related activities have been postponed until the first week of May.

How this exactly looks moving forward is still to be determined however until further notice, Maitland Rugby Club will be following the directives as per the media release including no games, training and face to face rugby education courses.

I thank you for your understanding and patience and look forward to kicking off as soon as it is safe for all of the Maitland Rugby Family.

Yours in Rugby,

Pat Howard

Message from the President.

Dear all of MRC members and family,

After closely monitoring the latest developments with the Covid-19 pandemic and taking advice from rugby authorities and our medical team we believe it in the best interests of our Rugby Family to cancel usual training for this coming week for both our senior and junior teams.

Unfortunately, the season launch that was proposed for next Sunday the 22/03/2020 will also be postponed until further notice.

We are afforded the opportunity to exercise this approach as we have 2 weeks until the competition starts, and we would prefer to take a proactive stance on this rather than be reactive after the fact. If by meaning that we ultimately miss 2 training sessions to ensure the health of our members, then this decision has been made.

We will certainly be continuing to monitor this situation and seek advice moving forward. We will revisit this decision later this coming week where I am hopeful we can resume training as normal on Monday the 23/03/2020.

Yours in Rugby

Pat Howard

Tony Cant / Wiz Golledge Gala Day

Maitland Junior Rugby Club has been closely monitoring and evaluating developments regarding the Coronavirus ( COVID-19) out break over the past week or more. We have had some teams pull out of this weekend’s rugby gala due to their concerns.
Based on this, and the advice from many sources, together with speaking with other club representatives, we regrettably advise that we are cancelling this weekend’s gala games.
The Covid-19 pandemic is an unprecedented event happening around the world and as part of MJRU values, we consider the welfare of all our players, supporters, volunteers and our community very highly. Whilst this may upset some of our players and families our primary concern is the safety and wellbeing of all our player, families and visitors.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may course.

Yours in Rugby

Chris Heath
MJRU President
