This young man certainly gave golf in the 1970s its own special style. With hair like that, Randall Ravenscroft could easily have passed as a member of the Bee Gees and those magnificent locks would give even the best modern-day mullet a serious run for its money!

Those long locks may have disappeared with the passing years, but thankfully Randall’s wit and sense of humour are still every bit as sharp as they were back in the ’70s.

Thank you, Randall, for the many years, countless hours, laughs and memories you have given to the Longreach Golf Club. Members like you are a very special part of our Club’s 100-year story.

Saturday the 19th of September is shaping up to be a great day of Ambrose Golf. We so far have eight local business already nominated with many personal team nominations.

But anyone can nominate and play and it’s not too late! nominate your team today by sending through an email to [email protected] or by reaching out through the Facebook messenger app.

The only requirement is that you need a team of three players and that’s it! The day is about having fun and a laugh, with great prizes being thrown in as a bonus for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

Once you are nominated, you automatically go into the draw to win the Major prize of a Weber BBQ, but also other prizes that will be drawn on the day.

Nominate your team today! Nominations are $20 per team
member and can be paid on the day at the Club House.

The Bar will be open, and a drinks cart will be operating around the course.

Another amazing sportswoman not only in Golf, but in state competition for Tennis as well. The Longreach Leader covered so much sport back in the 1930's with some really fascinating articles.

The Longreach Regional Council has been there from the very beginning, and it is so fitting that 100 years later they continue to support the Longreach Golf Club and other sporting clubs throughout the region.

This Lady is one of many amazing women golfers that competed at the Longreach Golf Club. Her story will be on display on the 18th and 19th of September to mark the 100 year celebrations.

The Longreach Golf Club would also like to recognise and thank Mr Tonka Alice for his thoughtfulness and generosity in finding and donating back the 1935 trophy that was found in an Op shop away.

The trophy belonged to Mrs Thurecht, from a match she played and won in 1935. This will be on display at the Golf Club for the celebrations.

Believe it or not, the Longreach Golf Club still has the first ever Club Championship trophy that was played and won back in 1927. Below is the story of how R. A. P. Jackson won, the story was taken and summarised from The Longreach Leader.
