🎉 Thomson River Festival 🎉

What an amazing weekend! The first-ever Thomson River Festival brought our community together for three days of fun, competition, and celebration. We want to thank everyone who came out and made this event such a huge success!

A quick recap of the highlights:

🦆 Quack Street Party: Over 450 people joined us for a fantastic evening of live music, market stalls, and dancing! The Zac Cross Band kept the energy levels high all night and the Giant Duck sitting in Duck Street was a unique photo opportunity for the festival goers!

🚤 Thomson River Fun Fest: The 18 local businesses who battled it out in the Giant Duck Race – made for intense watching! Congrats to Kent Constructions for taking the win over Longreach Vet Services, and to WQPHN Quakers for winning Best Dressed Duck Team. The kids had a blast in the Splash & Dash with old school apple bob and water balloon toss. Well done Zahlee Curtis taking home Best Dressed Water Creature. And let’s not forget the laughs during the Shark Showdown where 15 not for profit clubs competed to raise money for their club. Congratulations to Central West Rugby League who came out just ahead of Our Ladies P & F.

🐴 Longreach Rodeo: The community dusted off their boots and packed the Longreach Showgrounds for a thrilling rodeo night!

☕️ The Branch Recovery Breakfast: We wrapped things up with a relaxing breakfast and the conclusion of the Scavenger Hunt. Congrats to Team Jackos & The Searchers for tying as joint winners, and to Clue Crew for most creative team!

The festival was about more than just having fun. It was a great opportunity for local businesses, community groups, and families to come together and celebrate everything we love about this region. It’s your chance to bid on GIANT ducks being paddled by local businesses in the upcoming Giant Duck Race! 🐤💸 Will your duck bring home the glory? Come down, place your bids, and make a splash!

Plenty of food, markets, music & fun. Come down to the corner of Duck & Galah St!

Kicking off with our Quack Street Party on Friday night, there’s something for everyone – live music, market stalls, and plenty of laughs! Saturday will be ducking awesome with the Giant Duck Race - watch the local businesses battle it on. There is so much in the program! Check it out!!
