Huge congratulations to the Melbourne Hang Gliding Club for organising a wonderful extended weekend of flying and camping in Conargo NSW. Great weather for relaxed ground towing practice. Over 20 pilots attended from Victoria, SA and ACT. It is of course winter, but pilots had flights of over 1.5 hrs and up to 3500ft. 3 new pilots obtained their ground towing endorsements.

Sorry for the late notice everyone but we will not fly at Locksley this weekend due to poor weather.
We will also not fly at Locksley the following Kings birthday long weekend as we will be supporting the Melbourne Hang gliding club's fly in at Conargo NSW during which we will run a ground towing endorsement.

We will fly at Locksley this Saturday. The tug will be out early towing students however there would be room for one or two others to practice. We will break for an early lunch about 11am and resume towing about 12'ish till mid afternoon.

There has been some discussion over the past few weeks of an intellectual property dispute between the old and new owners of Wills Wing. This had led to serious discussion of a pause in glider production at WW Mexico until the dispute was settled. Thankfully things seem to be resolving and glider production will be ongoing. Good news for this iconic hang gliding company. Interestingly WW seem to be developing a very easily short packed new glider model.

We will not fly at Locksley this weekend. Winds are a little strong on Saturday and a significant rain event will arrive late afternoon and continue through Sunday.

We will run a hang gliding ground towing endorsement course on Kings Birthday long weekend (6,7,8 June 2026). The course will be at Conargo, NSW (https://siteguide.org.au/Map?mapType=terrain&type=school,club,open,closed&ll=-35.3894,145.177&spn=0.3009,0.8437).

Cost of the course is $400 with all tows and tow equipment supplied. Booking for the course are essential. Spaces are limited so get in touch asap.

This course will be run in conjunction with the annual Melbourne Hang Gliding Club fly in at Conargo which attracts pilots from all over SE Australia. This means there will be lots of other pilots to fly and socialise with. The MHGC will put on a BBQ dinner over the weekend.

Accommodation options range from bush camping (with facilities 2km away), RV camping near the pub or more civilised options like a proper CV park or motels in Deniliquin which is about 30km south.

In addition, I always like to say "no dangley bits!" That is, check your VG cord, your harness closure rope and your instrument retainer cord cannot catch on the cart.
