SYDNEY MARATHON 2025

What a run - Sydney Marathon has exceeded all my expectations, from the expo to everything that unfolded in the race today it has been nothing short of amazing.

Today was the best and coolest running experience I’ve ever had. I ran with my headphones on my head and had them turned off all day because the atmosphere and vibes were too good to block out. The streets were sooooo loud, the crowds were massive and the finish line in front of the Oprah House was pretty special.
I managed to run a 3.12 race today which is a 6 min personal best. To say I’m stoked is an understatement. I set out with the goal to run well within my limits and completely enjoy the experience of a major marathon. This was the most consistent marathon I have ever run and to be able to finish strong is something I’m very proud of.

I want to shout out my running/training buddies who joined me for nearly every single 5am Thursday morning session for the past 20 weeks, plus long runs on the weekend. Thank you, absolutely no way I’d get the most out of myself running solo out there.

To my amazing clients, friends and family who supported, listened to me carry on about running and who sent amazing messages of support and encouragement yesterday and today thank you!!!

Thank you to my amazing wife who supports me through my training and marathon journey. There is a lot of selfishness when it comes to long distance running and I seriously couldn’t have done this without her encouragement and motivation. Special shout out to my number 1 little fan, Hazel!!! These are memories that we will hold with us forever.

Special shout out to my mother in law Mez who came over to give Emma a helping hand with all the race day logistics. You both did amazing not to get lost haha!

Well where do we start with my Mum 😃💪🏽 she has become an absolute powerhouse in the gym over the past 3 years whilst completely shifting her health and fitness goals.
What started out as just 1 session per week, Mum caught the healthy lifestyle bug and soon increased to 2 sessions per week, then added in run club on a Monday morning and then added in Bootcamps on Saturday mornings 😃💪🏽
From someone who hated exercises only just a few years ago, to now spending more than 60% of her week exercising is a massive shift in focus and something I am so proud of her for doing 😃 Not only is she bettering herself in the present moment, she is setting herself up for the next 10 plus years to be the best she has ever had.
Mum I am so proud of everything you have achieved and what you do each and every week when you step foot into the gym 💪🏽 I may push you a little too hard sometimes but it is all out of love and I know it gets the best out of you!! Keep on smashing it, because the sky is the limit now 🥰💪🏽

💥 CLIENT SPOTLIGHT💥

Kaicee Kleeman.

Kaicee has been coming to see me weekly for well over a year now and each and every week she brings her same upbeat, give it her all attitude to her sessions.
Kaicee started training whilst she was pregnant, where we focused on simple but very effective movements to maintain a level of strength and fitness that she was comfortable with. Post pregnancy we slowly but surely started to ramp up her training whilst listening to what her body was capable of doing. I’m positive that the training pre birth certainly helped Kaicee bounce back super quick and before you know it we were back into everything possible. Since then she has ticked off a 10km race down at Victor Harbour, which I don’t think will be the last running race she does 💪🏽
At present we are extremely focus on strength & plyometric movements based solely around preparing her to dominate this years netball season ahead!
Kaicee is an absolute pleasure to work with each and every week and I can’t wait to continue to push her to smash her goals in the near future! 💪🏽💪🏽

💥 CLIENT SPOTLIGHT💥

In the Monday night super crew we have Ian, Dee, Hope, Alex, Linny and Jamie 💪🏽💪🏽 who are 6 absolute legends that make every single session hilariously fun.

Each of them have achieved more than they had ever thought possible since they had started training with me! Between the 6 of them we have mountain bikers, runners, walkers, power lifters and most importantly, healthy and active humans doing the best they can to improve their quality of life. The growth both physically and mentally from each and every one of them has been huge, and I got a feeling that these 6 aren’t even finished yet as I reckon there is still so many goals on the horizon for them to smash 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

They are a pleasure to train each and every week and I’m so proud of them all for what they are doing to improve their health and wellbeing.

Plus being amazing role models for their children in showing them a well rounded healthy way of living! Great work team 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

What a year, what a crew 💪🏽💪🏽 a massive thank you to everyone this year for continuing to show up and better themselves each and every week!!! We celebrated this year in style (minus a few legends who were very much missed today due to prior events) 🎅🏽🎅🏽

We have had huge lifestyle changes, first time marathoners, marathon and half marathon PBs, 10k PBs, strength and mobility gains that people didn’t think were possible, healthy lifestyle changes, new friendships made and we are building a foundation of such a fit and strong community in our local area 😃😃

I can’t thank everyone enough for their continued support and dedication and I am so excited for what 2024 brings for us all! Have a merry merry Christmas 🎅🏽 I love you all 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

▪️OUTDOOR BOOTCAMPS▪️

With the weather on the improve 🤞🏽🤞🏽☀️☀️ and the daylight hours getting longer, I’m pretty pumped to say I’ll be running outdoor bootcamps at the Lobethal Recreation Grounds 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

Outdoor bootcamps are seriously the best for the novice to the most experienced fitness fanatic! They are the perfect way to introduce yourself to like minded people and be apart of a community that always welcomes newbies in with open arms 😃

There is no skill needed, just show up and move, your mind and body will thank you for it. Sessions will consist of mainly bodyweight exercises but with some equipment throughout as well 💪🏽

What do you need to know???

Where- LOBETHAL RECREATION GROUND
When - STARTING 30th of SEPTEMBER
Time - 6:30am
Session length - 60 mins
Price - $10 per person

🏃🏽‍♂️MARATHON TRAINING🏃🏽‍♂️

We have another awesome running update for you all! Michael (Linny) is your perfect example of patience and trusting the process. Linnys journey started years ago well before he started training with me. First it was a change in diet, then it was getting out and walking multiple times a week, then it was joining up and adding his gym session on Monday nights with his awesome training group 💪🏽💪🏽 then he jumped on board the Lobethal Run Club and has never looked back. Linny has gone from a 5k runner, to he is going to smash the Barossa half marathon in the space of only 5 months (photo 3 & 4 shows just how far he has come). It just proves and shows that anything is possible if you want to go and get it. Sometimes the peer pressure is all you need to get you going in the right direction, which is why I’m always in his ear to aim for the full Marathon in October 😂🏃🏽‍♂️💨
Keep smashing it mate! You are absolutely killing it and making everyone so proud. Can’t wait to see you cross that finish line in May 💪🏽💪🏽

🏃🏽‍♀️MARATHON TRAINING🏃🏽‍♀️

As well as my own marathon training I have the pleasure of taking one of my super committed clients through her preparation for the Barossa event in May! Dee has already completed 1 marathon before and is hungry to dominate this next one. After already hitting a PB in the 10k late last year, the marathon is next on the list! Dee’s progress over the past 8 weeks has been huge and her 2km splits in the Fartlek has shown huge improvements in overall aerobic fitness. Dee’s commitment and dedication to this training program has set her up that failure is not an option!! Can’t wait to see where her fitness is at after the next block of training 🏃🏽‍♀️💨💨

🏃🏽‍♂️MARCH STATS 🏃🏽‍♂️

Another 4 weeks in the bank for this marathon prep and the legs are still feeling good. The focus this month was to increase my running load and see how the body would adapt. My monthly load went from 43/45km per week to 63km per week, I did this with the increase in long runs and also adding in a mid sized run towards the end of the week. All in all we had 270.5km for the month.

- Long runs - Increase from 17km to 24km runs. The big change however was implementing a Fartlek style session to the run. I broke this down into 5 x 2km tempo 2km jog which I found extremely beneficial to overall fitness. There was a few challenges thrown in there with a couple of warmer March days that made this one sting a little more, but overall this long run was fantastic. Loved the change up in paces and I felt the body responded well.
- Tempos - Well the tempos have been the highlight of the month for me. I increased the distance from 6km to 10km and set myself the challenge of pushing to break 40 mins for 10km. Well I did it….. 3 times in a row, finishing up with a 37:02 min 10km PB. The training must be doing something right because I have never ran this fast before!

Next month will involve increase long runs again from 24k to 30k with some goal marathon pace efforts in there. Plus increasing the tempo distance as well to continue to get that high end speed work in.

7.5 weeks out from the Barossa!! Bring it on 🏃🏽‍♂️💨

MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎅🏽

How could I put every single one of my amazing clients through that 12 Days of Xmas workout without giving it a go myself to see what all the fuss was about 😅😂

Well that was spicy 🌶️ what a seriously unbelievable effort from every single one of you to get that workout done over the past 2 weeks 😃😃

Whether it took you 50 minutes or 60 minutes there was not one person who did not finish it!! (There is a few yet to give it a go 😉 and I will remember who they are 😂)

I’m pretty biased but I definitely have the best group of clients ever!! I can’t thank you all enough for your on going amazing support towards my small business! From the bottom of my heart I love you all and I wish you and you’re families a Merry Merry Christmas 🎅🏽❤️
