Respectfully... your butt might be wasting away. 🍑
It comes back to the old saying - use it or lose it.
If we spend the majority of our day sitting, our glutes simply aren't being challenged very much. Over time, without enough resistance or activity, we can lose strength and muscle mass.
Your glutes are about so much more than how your bum looks in a pair of jeans.
They're some of the largest and most powerful muscles in your body, helping to support your hips, pelvis and lower back and providing the strength you need for so many everyday movements.
Strong glutes help you:
→ Get up out of a chair
→ Climb stairs without thinking twice
→ Walk up hills
→ Lift and carry things
→ Get down to the floor and back up
→ Maintain balance and stability
→ Keep doing the activities you love as you get older
They also play an important role in how forces are distributed through your hips, knees and lower back.
The good news is that your glutes are very trainable.
You don't need to quit your desk job or dedicate your life to doing squats.
You just need to give those muscles a reason to stay strong.
Walk more. Take the stairs. Add some hills. And most importantly, include regular strength exercises that actually challenge your glutes.🍑
