Boomer alumni signs with the Pittsburgh Pirates!
The Wests Boomers very own Ashton Kennedy is now a professional baseball player, having signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates organisation on 22-May. Trading in the black and purple for black and gold, Ashton starts his professional baseball career as a two-way player (Aussie Ohtani!) in the Rookie League for the DSL Pirates in the Dominican Summer League, a typical pathway for young international players. Ashton flies out next week in time for the start of the summer baseball season.

NSW U18s GO DOWN FIGHTING

Whilst they have just finished with the bronze, a Boomers alumni (Ashton Kennedy) had a whale of a game this morning in the Elimination Final which kept NSW in the competition today.

Complete game (7 innings) with 10 strikeouts and only allowing 1 earned run - amazing!!

Nice to have another Boomers alumni (Frank Clarke) make the final out at short.

Ashton and Frank were part of our superstar SD1 team that we were blessed to be able to watch a couple of years ago. They both have big things ahead and we cant wait to see how far they can go.

A couple of outstanding performances at the U18 World Cup in Japan. Always amazing to see Boomers pursuing their baseball dreams across the globe - way to go Ashton!

Congratulations to Ashton Kennedy on being named the Leading Hitter of the Tournament and Josh Nati for the Most Runs Batted In at the Tournament.

Ashton was 8 for 18 and hit .444 leading all qualified hitters.

Josh hit .375 and led the tournament in RBI’s with 12.
