WSKK is a Kyokushin Karate school dedicated to the teachings of founder Sosai Mas Oyama. We empower students to unleash their full potential using martial arts to develop self-confidence, increase physical fitness & learn valuable leadership skills. We cater for students from the ages of 3 and up, and welcome those of all fitness levels. The physical training involved in Kyokushin Karate develops strength, co-ordination, stamina, balance, power and increases flexibility, which is important during these years of physical change. Kyokushin Karate is a no-nonsense Martial Arts that focuses on character development, physical fitness and practical self-defence. Emphasis is placed on establishing discipline and courtesy in yourself/child. The development of self discipline and courtesy helps build positive social interactions with authority figures and with peers. Self-confidence will improve as the child learns to take control over their reactions and in turn will develop the ability to stand up to peer pressure and other intimidating situations. We recognise that each training member progress at individual rates, mistakes allow us to learn and improve; members are encouraged to continue until they succeed at a task. Our Kyokushin squads create an atmosphere of co-operation in which members can help each other and are rewarded for doing so. Members learn leadership skills and how to work within group settings. As members practise self-defence and partner training drills with each other, they learn to respect each other’s bodies and feelings. Kyokushin is good clean fun for all walks of life and a great way to burn off extra energy.
