Day 6 final day seen our boat head out early as we had a 80km steam to a sea mount that raises from 6000m to 200m. Upon arrival birds were working the waters which was a positive sign. Lures in and with a few minutes bang ! A small yellowfin quickly followed by another. This set up the day with constant hook ups on Yellowfin Tuna and Striped Tuna. While the fishing was hot Rich managed to get a quality Yellowfin Tuna past the tax man and went around 15kg. We were losing as many as we were landing with some quality fish over 40kg amongst them but couldnt get them past the sharks. Meanwhile boat two didn’t have much luck as sharks were a nuisance also, although hooking up to a couple of Doggies but to no avail. It was an awesome trip with good friends and you could imagine the banter and laughs we had ! If you ever get the opportunity to come over here and fish, try Ocean Blue / Trees and Fishes Resort as it won’t disappoint. 👌

Day 4 Vanuatu seen us decide to have a later start to the day than the previous two just to mix things up. Both boats went in totally opposite directions so none of us were sure how the other went. Our day with Rich, Greg, Dillon and myself started perfectly with beautiful cobalt blue clear water just waiting for us to drop a lure in. Well that’s where that ended for us ! It turned out to be a day of bust offs and frustration but that’s why they call it fishing and not catching ! I did manage one nice Red Bass which was one to knock off the bucket list, even though it was frustrating we were continually marking fish but they had other ideas. Back the resort we caught up with the others Steve, Geoff, Gaz and Mark and they had a more productive day catching a number of Yellowfin up to 20kg. Last day tomorrow, let’s see how it goes !

Day - 3 in Vanuatu, seen us have a delayed start to the day due to torrential rain and believe me it came down ! Once out we headed back to spot we were yesterday to try our luck. We managed what the locals called a Scad Mackeral, 2 Wahoo and Rich unfortunate got bitten off after hooking up to a thumper Dog Tooth Tuna. Meanwhile the guys on the other boat got a Rainbow Runner, Longtom and lost a Dog Tooth Tuna as well. Going to mix it up a bit tomorrow and try a afternoon session to see if it produces better results.

Day 1 - Arrival at Ocean Blue / Trees and Fishes resort in Vanuatu seen 6 of 8 the 8 of us arrive safely. Due too a flight cancellation they managed to get here the next day. Day 1 was just a matter of settling in and getting to know place and surrounds and boy it didn’t disappoint ! Day - 2 seen the 6 of us head out on two boats to try our luck without boring you with to much detail it was a productive day but we did have issues with the taxman at times. Fish caught, Dog Tooth Tuna, Wahoo, Barracuda, Whaler Shark, Job Fish, Rainbow Runner and some other reef species. All fish were kept and with respect to the island owners for fishing in their waters, some of the catch was shared with their villages.

Club members Ron and Daniel Kemna along with Wayne Bastin had a session they won’t forget in a hurry ! Fishing off Bermagui the boys went -
1 x Black Marlin
1 x Blue Marlin
4 x Striped Marlin
Giving Team Hostile their first Grand Slam ! Well done boys and look forward to more results 👌

Club Members Steve Marland and Garry Cleeland made the most of good this good weather and hot Tuna bite !They had a great morning session on the Tuna, tagging and releasing 10 fish with the biggest having a 115cm fork length which is approximately 25-30kg. Well done boys 👍

Hi all, got a report from the other member that was out off Port Welshpool yesterday. The Marland clan got some cracking fish on light tackle and it’s great to see the juniors out there having a go. They tagged 14, kept 2. Troy Marland with a ripping 18.8kg fish on 8kg line class and sister Ruby Marland not to be out done got a 17.2kg on 10kg line class. Well done team !

A couple of club members headed out off Port Welshpool yesterday in search of some Tuna. Richard and Sharon managed 7 releasing 6 and keeping the largest one, great conditions on the water 👌

Hi All, just a heads up that the floating pontoon has been damaged by the strong winds over the last few days. With Australia Day long weekend coming up let’s hope it gets fixed before hand !
