The Leongatha Basketball Association is deeply saddened by the passing of Life Member Marie Carter.
Marie dedicated many years of service to our Association and to the game she loved. For those who were part of Leongatha basketball in the days of the original stadium, there will be many fond memories of Marie and the countless hours she gave to our basketball community.
Basketball was a lifelong passion for Marie, and perhaps one of her greatest legacies is that her love of the game has continued through her family. Her son Paul, daughter-in-law Cara, and grandchildren Max and Lucy have all followed in her footsteps, giving their time to the Association and contributing to the game in many different ways.
After our move to Splash, Marie remained a familiar face around the stadium, particularly when she could be found courtside watching and supporting her grandchildren. She took enormous pride in seeing another generation of her family become part of the Leongatha basketball community she had given so much to.
Life Members hold a special place in the history of our Association. They represent the people whose years of hard work, commitment and love for the game helped build the foundations of the club we have today.
Marie was one of those people, and her contribution will long be remembered.
The Leongatha Basketball Association extends its deepest sympathies to Ray, Julie, Paul and their family and friends.
