Struggling to get back into the gym?

Struggling to find your fitness motivation?

Make small achievable goals.

Commit to attending one session a week for 4 weeks… then commit to two sessions a week for the next 4 weeks…. Then finally to three sessions a week for the following 4 weeks.

You have now formed a habit of 3 sessions a week, and it’s been a gradual process that is absolutely achievable!!

Most of us tend to go all in, trying to make daily sessions, only to miss a couple due to life, which then makes us think we failed so we stop altogether.

Set yourself up for success!!!

Small achievable goals over time can lead to huge results!

The pull up/chin up is a great exercise for strength, posture and function if performed correctly. To engage those important mid back muscles (mid and lower trapezius and rhomboids) as well as the lats, we need to make sure we complete the movement in the correct position.
Start in a full stretch position with the scapular protracted and elevated then pull all the way towards the chest to retract and depress the scapular.... simply put - shoulders back and down. (Vid 1)
If we pull to the chin and round the shoulders and upper back we are actively using the lats in absence of the mid back muscles required for structural balance. (Vid 2)
And because the pull up requires loads of upper body strength you can always use bands or an assisted machine to help, alternatively the lat pull down is a perfect regression and is a much easier option using the same principles. ....
